No Kumhos left in the Nation... what is a comparable tire?... BFG R1's?
I am going to the Expo and am looking for a tire that would be comparable to the Kumho V700's since I can't find any. The only option that I have come up with is the Hoosiers, but they cost a hell of a lot more and don't last as long. Does BFG make anything worth considering?
WD,
I don't know, because I have never used Kumhos. I have just talked to many people whom have used both and say that the RA1's maintain their composure much better than the Kumho's over long periods of track time.

BFG R1s are excellent. Unfortunately, BFG has stopped making this tire so supplies are very limited. Tire Rack didn't have any 205/15s R1s.
I was never a big fan of the A032 - too slippery at track temps, not very precise.

I have the BFG's, they take alittle longer to warm up than the RA1.
But once they're up to speed look out plenty o grip.
If it's a cold track give it more time because your backside will swing around fast. the compound is harder than the RA1 and the sidewall are definetly stiffer!

try a&j for Advan 048R or godspeed for them too....
or go A032r, they are a great tire and still VERY sticky.
I have A032R and love them.. not as sticky as V700, but I beat V700 equipped cars at autox in my class all the time!

Thanks eveyone for your responses. It looks like I am going to try out the Toyo RA1 tires. I appreciate everyone's comments.
I had the same problem earlier in the week.
Luckily I managed to come up with something even cooler from Kumho.
They are sending me a slightly used set of prototype test tires. The new ECSTA V700 that won't be available until Sept.
I know a guy (from my desperate searching) that has a set of slightly used or maybe new I forget Hoosiers 205/50-15. He wants $400. Drop me a line if your interested in getting in touch
