Default What's the big deal with down-pipes

I always see posts about people being unhappy with their downpipes. Why, is it a clearance issue? Isn't this something a custom exhaust shop could make?

Just wondering?

Or too small of a diameter can run into a flow issue. In this case the bigger the better.
A/C is on most peoples minds i guess. For me its not too bad. Pennsylvania summers arent all that bad---I feel for the Texas and Florida guys sticking it out without A/C.

Ah, okay thanks. Since my engine has none of that and has lots of room around it (it's going in the car in my sig,) I keep forgetting how cramped it is in the stock installation.
