how hard is it to recharge your A/C
mine isnt blowing cold anymore and i was told to recharge it, i think the shops charge like 150, i'm willing to try buying that kit and doing it myself but how difficult is it to do and can i damage the compressor if i do it wrong? thanks
150 is ridiculous. Go to any auto store, and get a can of coolant, and it should come with a quick connect hose. There is alittle thing, with a turquoise cap on it sticking up in front of your radiator, turn the car on, and try to make it as hot in there as possible, IE windows down, doors open,(this is to make sure the compressor is running) then turn the AC on 4 with it at the coolest, connect the coolant can, and turn it on. Once it stops, turn the can off, disconnect and your good. Helms

first of all never go to that shop trying to charge you $150 wtf, go to an any autoparts store buy couple cans of freeon, (under $20) then go to a shop have them do it i paid like $30 plus free on.

sounds good except that i dont think my compressor is turning on because it doesnt blow cool at all. someone told me that when you get real low on coolant that the compressor stops so you dont burn it out. how do i do it in this case. i hope its just coolant and not anything serious.

make sure you buy a guage or get one in the kit or something, because you dont want to overcharge the system.

DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT add that cheap crap refigerant crap at auto parts stores. I have just spent the last 3 months learning the ins and outs of HVAC systems, without the proper knowledge and tools you are in for more trouble, and possibly messing up your system then you want to mess with.
HOwever, if you happen to have a manifold gauge &vaccume set and have a licence to purchase R134a, which is, for the record what goes in all 3rd gen integras, proper recovery equiptment (since you would be facing heavy fines for venting refigerent into the atmosphere) and a system to properly measure the ammount of 134 to put back into the system. Just bite the bullet and have a tech. take a shot at it. They will do everything within EPA guidelines which is always good, and you know this will be done right.
But, if you wanna do it, start studying. Good luck
