dented oil pan

Default dented oil pan

got a ls motor and the oil pan is dented in about half an inch, how will this affect the motor, its dented in the whoel center part on the lower part of the oil pan. like could the dent be blockin the pickup from pickup up oil ? or what else could this cause

It is definitely a possibility that the oil pickup tube could be blocked by the dent in the pan. The only way to know is to take it off and have a look.

my Z6 pan is dented about 1/2-1" and it works fine
just make sure u fill the oil just a bit over the top fil hole of the dipstick... since its dented the readin its higher but the amount of oil its lower. just to let u knnow

On my B16,The oil pan was caved in pretty bad,
I was able to do wonders from the inside of the pan
with a big hammer and various size blocks of wood..

My b16a pan had a small dent in it when I got it. I just pulled the pan, and used the same technique as 88dxcrx. It worked great, just replace the gasket. I know on a vtec engine, having a dent in the right location can cause the oil pressure to lessen, and vtec wont activate. But you dont have vtec, but I would still fix it. Ryan
