THINGS NOT TO DO when installing a b16a into your rex!!!!
I just got finished installing a b16a into my 89 CRX DX. I ran into so many little stupid problems, that held me back and drove me ****** crazy for a long time... SO i decided to post a couple WHAT NOT TO DO things up....
1st Do not send your wires out to hasport, it is really easy to wire your own, you will save $250 dollars that can be used on better ****, if any one needs I have good instuctions, specs for rewiring.
2nd there are two sets of holes on your rear cross member to mount your new rear mount. make sure you install the mount on the set of holes closest to the driver side of the car, we fucked this up, engine would not set up right, had to take out switch mount then , put back in
3rd when looking at the ecu plugs on the harness to plug in new wires for swap, make sure that you are looking at the flat plastic piece of the clip when orienting the right pinout possitions. If you are looking at the clip right, the A clip should have two slanted corners at the top. I did all my wiring right , to the T, I asked a friend how to orient plugs so that I would plug all the wires into the right spots, well to make a long story short, he kind of confused the hell out of me and I origionally plugged all the wires into the wrong side of the clip beacuse I was lloking at it backwards..
4th If you are having a crazy idle problem and it is idleing real high, dont **** with any thing at first, CHECK to see if the damn throttle cable is too tight, even if you push on the spring on the throttle cable idle will not drop untill you actually releave tension on the cable itself.
Pretty much these are the shitty things that happened to me and my ride while doing this swap, everything is running smooth now with no codes, and I am loving it...........

also DONT FORGET TO HAMMER THE LIP OF THE REAR CROSSMEMBER!!!!!!!
the goddamn motor was in and i could figure out why the hell the bolt holes were BARLY just where i couldn't get the damn bolts in. forget this step and prepare to be VERY PISSED for abot 3HOURS or so...

also, if you are using an engine hoist, wrap the chains around the engine going through the middle of the intake manifold, then under neeth the engine on the side of the oil pan. this is a real good way to lift, evrything is ballanced out and the motor will go right in. If you attach the chains to those metal hook type deals on the trans, and left of the intake manifold, the engine will sit of ballanced and you will have to pull on chains push on motor, **** around trying to line up the mounts on the brackets.
trust me putting the chains in the middle of the engine is the easiest way to go... all the little things make such a big difference.

You don't need to do that. Just get a shorter alt belt.

90 black crx, you are the one that told me to put the wires in the wrong way. You also were the one to put the rear mount on the wrong set of holes, not to mention like two or three sensor clips on the wrong sensors!

dont for get to grease up your mounts, makes the **** go in waaay easier....i pounded my front crossmember mount and that lip down too...dont plan on getiing a JDM 4-1 header, it will sit waay too low and it will hit on everything, mine was hitting on driveways when my car wqas stock highth
I used A Z racing mounts, they work better than hasports, hasports sit the engine so far up towards the front cross member, some people can not even put the heat shield on their header because it rubs the front, Also hasports make the axles fit real tight, allmost too tight, A Z's allow the engine to sit back towards the fir wall more I have quite a bit of room in front of my motor, I am pretty damn sure that I could fit a 1 piece header without cutting down the front cross member. I will keep you posted after I add a header!
hey could you email me the wiring instructions to jopivym@aol.com.
