Well I emailed rota and asked if they were gonna make Advan RG knockoffs. They responded and said they would check I was just seeing how many of you guys would like to see the RG imitation And to rota's good quality

 

eh. i guess it would be kewl. i kinda grew out of those rims though. seeing them too much makes them grow old

 

I dunno i barely ever see them, and its not like they are cheap

 

the black racing pro-n1's look similar to the advan rg's...

any mass produced part is gonna be played out. i dont see how people wanna be so exclusive with parts that come off an assembly line. lol

 

Rota is the "Fastest and Furiousest" thing in all of the import world. Rota kills the originality for those of us who actually like the exclusiveness of wheels like Advan.

Its not that people want to be exclusive with parts that come off a assembly line but for people who spend the money on a quality wheel like that they (I know for me anyway) hate it when some who doesn't know the diff between the copy and fakes writes the wheels off as one and the same.

I had Rota's paint chiped on me. I've had 2 sets of Volks.......now I'm waiting on a set of Advan's. Rota is a great wheel maufacturer......I know for me I would like to see more original ideas from them.

Its like seeing Lynx sneakers copy Nikes. Or Ecko being copied by Exco. These are blatant rip offs of the original I know I wouldn't buy....And I know a lot of people like that as well. They won't buy fake shell toes or Nike Cortez's.....they would prefer to buy the real thing.........wheels are no different.

True you are paying for some of the name, but you are also paying for the quality as well.

who cares rota make a quality wheel that some of us can actually afford. IMO il lbe damned to pay 1500 w/o tires for a set of advan rg's , mugen mf-8's or RnR's when i can get a set of rota's that arent that bad of quality, lightwieght also and way way cheaper......i get them 550 w/ tires that other 1500 i would spend can go to something else for the motor.

Look I see both sides and I agree with both sides. For me I had the money to buy the real thing and I did.

lol u made some points and i didnt see ur post until after i posted about it. i agree on certain levels. some people like gap, others like polo. but in terms of wheels if i had the money? yea sure i would probably get a set of real mugen's if i could. but for a college student trying to just keep up with the pace of cars going faster its a good deal for anyone wanting a nice set of wheels that used to be exclusive for only people who could afford the real deal.

if you can get wheels for a 1/4 of the price, that are still a very high quality wheel, it would be stupid not to. and rota isn't your average knockoff company... they have proven themselves as quality wheel makers.

dude thats exactly what ive been saying to anybody who asked me why i got rotas... i would much rather put the money into an engine!

 

Wheels are a wear item and are so easily stolen. They can also be easily broken in the event of an accident or just hitting a curb or a bad pothole.

There's a local ATL guy here that went for broke and charged a set of Racing Hart CP035 wheels at roughly $385.00 per wheel plus tires. He drove on them for two days before they were stolen off of his car in his own ******* driveway. He basically kept paying on a loan for something that he no longer even owned.

Petty thieves will steal wheels in a heartbeat. The argument could be made as to why we even mod our cars because of high theft rates, but honestly wheels are so much more likely to be stolen than an entire car. Any fucktard with a 19mm wrench and a jack and blocks can steal wheels in 20mins. tops and they won't have to fear having to hide an entire shell and/or going to jail for grand theft auto.

You take a risk like anything putting something nice in/on your car. Regardless if you spent all the money on the motor only to have the car stolen and stripped.

As for the B16A and spoons or Rota's C5 comment, very true...............Unless you can afford both.

It goes both ways. The same way you guys don't want people to **** on anyone buying Rota's is the same way you should frown on people who don't track their car's often (if @ all) and want to spend 400 dollars a wheel.

I was in a position very recently (Tom can attest to this) where I couldn't find work and I had to work @ Nopi to put food on the table. @ the time all I could afford was Rota's. I like them until paint started chipping, I understand it doesn't happen to everyone but it happen to me. I was able to trade up and get some Volk Gram lights (Which aren't that expensive). I got a better job and now I'm able to afford to get some real deal advan's. I don't track my car (Although I plan too this summer). I wanted nice wheels for my car for everyday driving, call it bling, call me a show *****, but its my money and what I wanted to do. Yeah I like a little of the wow factor but I spent money on my car and I want it to show sometimes.....you can't get mad @ that.

whats up with everyone trying to be "exclusive". whats with the "i paid X amount and now this kid as copies" who gives a flying ****. you should be worried about driving and building your own car rather then protecting some image. "i got X wheels, now rota has them, i hate my wheels now", well sir, you are buying rims for all the wrong reasons. imitation runs rampant in all kinds of car products. i personally own rota slipstreams. i know they arent desmonds. they arent as light as desmonds. arent as durable as desmonds either. but do they get the job done at autocross? hell yea. am i gonna refuse a 11.8 lb rim that i got at 300 for a set just because they "copied" something name brand. no. thatd be dumb. do i pass them off at desmonds. nope. you ask me what they are ill tell you they are rota's. simple as that.

id like to see anyone go to a track event or autocross event and bitch at the numerous FAST people who use durable yet cost effective rims because they work. you'd just get laughed at. whats funny is that my buddies with the cash for the more expensive units never diss on the cheaper product. ever. because they are out on the tracks and at the events too. and they see what works for some people. i find it funny how kids who like to bag on rota and other companies are the same kids who have expensive road race designed wheels, but they are just frontin the look, and never actually see such action anyway.

i agree to a certain extent*. if those people worked hard for them, then fine what the hell can i say. more power to them. BUT* when they start trying to pull other peoples' cards and talking **** on other people. thats when they become lamers. thats the difference. there are those who have nice wheels and respect and everyone elses choices. and there are those just in it for the fashion show image, while trying to call someone else "frontin" or fakin it. hypocrits if you ask me.

for many it seems to be a design issue only. they only scoff at the appearance of the rota wheels which look like other wheels. i notice no one ever bags on the Kosei K1's, or the Esses speedmaster wheels. those units are durable, affordable, light weight cast rims also. and no one ever says **** about em. just more proof people are caring about the looks and not the quality to price ratio.
