I am looking into purchasing the Toda B camshafts. I would like to know from those of you out there running them what electronics you are using. I have been reading the postings out here and see that some people are having trouble with the idle due to fuel richness. Will adjustable cam sprockets aid this setup? Thanks for your input.

 

Although I am not running B's, I think the majority of people are using a VAFC. By far the easiest that's for sure.

I'm using a custom tuned ECU and a VAFC.

 

cam gears only make the idle worst.......but you need them to get the extra 8-12 hp out of the B's....

V-AFC is all the fuel control you need on a stock motor

 

TEC-II.

 

I have a couple programs that I've dyno checked to see that it works nicely with the spec Bs. However the VAFC is still needed to fine tune because each car still reacts differently although they have the same mods, the biggest factor being compression ratio vs. fuel demand. Timing I have down-packed.

If you used the Toda ECU would u still need the VAFC? I hear it's not compatible with it? Just curious! And is it true that the VAFC is basically to used to fine tune the stock ECU?

its not just a simple number if thats what you're thinking, its an entire matrix plotted with load vs. rpm ... it took me over a year of countless hrs or dyno sessions to finalizet that after pulling teeth trying to get it from the Toda engineer when he visited two years ago.
