Default Thinking of getting a EK Civic Si(US) / SiR (CDN) need some help.

My EF Civic is really tired and on it's last legs so I am thinking of getting a 99-2000 Civic SiR. (I hate the look of the 2002+ SiR) Before I go ahead and get it I am looking for some info and suggestions as to what not to and what to do with it. It's going to be my daily driver so I don't want to go crazy with it but I still want to have some fun.

-Did the EK Civic come with Red Recaro's from the factory... I'm guessing the Type R did but since it's a HB will the seats rails work with the 2 dr?
-Will a 14 inch rim fit on the car so that I can get 14 inch winter tires as opposed to 15inch ones?
-I'm guessing 16inch tires are a comfortable step up in terms of look without hampering comfort too much. Correct?
-1"-1.75" drop is about the best set up to compensate for the 16's while again keeping comfort in mind.
-Power folding mirrors... gimk or usefull?
- What other major differences did the top of the line JDM 2dr and CDN SiR have?
-Is $13 750 CDN a good price to pay for a 100% legit SiR from the Honda dealer?

Any and all help... heck even pics would help.

Thanks.

Don

13750 depending on condition is really good. My friend just bought a 99 for 1600 and that was the best I had ever seen one for around here (Kingston ON). 13750 is closer to a 99' SI price then SIR. good deal!

I think you're a bit confused here, first off it's not an EK but an EM and it's a coupe not a hatch

The typeR did not come with red recaro's, they're the same seats as previous years only re-upholstered in the nastyred.. if you want to swap typeR seats into the EM1, 3 of the 4 bolts holes line up so just swap your stock rails onto the typeR seats and everything will bolt up fine

Only the Type-R came with the Alcantara Recaro SR3 seats. As long as you get seat rails from a CTR (not an ITR), they will bolt right into the coupe.

I use 14" steelies in winter, and they just barely fit over the front brake calipers. I'm not sure if many aluminum 14" wheels would fit; it depends on the offset.

Here in North America, we don't have nearly as tight of parking as they do in Japan, so there's really no use for them other than for the "bling factor."

Other than the obvious hatchback vs. coupe body style difference, the seats in the JDM SiR were actually quite a bit better than the crappy standard Civic seats we got here. Also the JDM SiR got automatic climate control, and the power folding mirrors; JDM B16A engines had higher compression, 168hp and 8200RPM redline as opposed to our 160hp and 8000RPM redline, and there were just a few other subtle differences on the extreior and in the interior (nothing too important).

That's about $10,060 US. Sounds quite cheap, actually . . . you may want to have it checked over to see if there are any problems. I still see most going for between $12,000-$15,000 US.

Well for starters the SiR doesn't come with power folding mirrors. Not stock anyway.

And if you did find one for 13700 that's incredible. High Km's??

Anyway, I'm selling mine now for 18900 so come buy it! Low Km's. You know you want it.

Reason it is so cheap is the old man works for Honda and I'm getting in a 4 year end of lease trade in. Quebec end of lease values are a little lower than most other provinces and I pay cost + 100 so that's why it's so cheap. I've just got to wait a few weeks till it comes in. As for the EK error... my bad. So basicaly no need for any cash to be dropped in on any JDM parts as most are useless.

Anyone got pics of a JDM SiR 2 Dr Civic?

Thanks.

:-)

Too bad you are so far away. My brother has his 99 FBP SI for sale for $10,500.

The guy he bought it from also has a red one for sale right now also, on brand new 18" wheels and tires. Needs new windshield in this pic. $10,500

And I got mine almost 3 months ago with 16k miles on it and clean title for $11k.
