I'm getting some squeeking from the slave cylinder and some drag on the clutch pedal when I'm pressing my clutch pedal. I want to try lubricating the slave cylinder shaft to see if this will solve the problem. I'm looking at the helms manual and the car and can't see how much of a pain getting the outer boot off will be and how easy it will be to put back on. Does it just pull out of the transmission and will it go back in pretty easily? If I pull it out of the transmission, will I have enough room in there to grease the slave cylinder shaft? It looks pretty easy, but would like to hear from someone who's done it before I find out there's more involved. I did a search and came up with someone who has had similar problems, but they don't talk about removing and reinstalling the outer boot. Here's a link if you want to check out the other post.

Thanks in advance.

There are a couple ways to do that.
#1 cut the boot off and never reinstall it. I think this forum would frown on that.
#2 unbolt the slave cylinder (2 12mm head bolts) and move it out of the way, then pull out the outer boot.
The boot itself comes out of the transmission easily when the slave cylinder is out of the way. You'll have plenty of room to do whatever greasing you want to do at that point. You'll want to put the boot back in place before you bolt up the slave cylinder.

Will you be able to move the slave cylinder around much with the hydraulic line still attached?

Yes, there is some play in it. If you are having trouble, pull the clips that attach the hardline-softline connection to the bracket on the transmission. This will give you a lot more room to play with.
Don't remove any clutch lines if you don't have to.
