Default Cam Gear Recommendation

I'm in the market for some cam gears. Are there any that stand out? Does it really make much of a difference what brand u get?

I'm going turbo eventually so I am going to need them, so I thought why not get them now. I want to get the gears then dyno my car until I get all the parts for FI

Skunk2, Toda, Golden Eagle, all are good brands.

Dont get AEM b/c when it starts to get dirty under there the two plates start to stick together and become harder to adjust.

Do not get Skunk2. Their marks are typically off by a bit. Id get STR cam gears or Toda.

is that still true or just from their earlier batches? Curious because I just bought some a few months back. Isn't true the markings aren't really important as the tuner should know what he's doing? (I'm not arguing, I'm asking questions)

And make sure you put loctite on the bolts.

Indeed. However, some people dont get theirs tuned immediately...so you might think they are on (0,0)...when they are actually hardcore retarded. Indeed - with tuning you can just tune it -- but the markings arent great at all. Mine are about 4 months old - and have the mark issue.

my friends and i 3 other integras have been running AEM cam gears never had this problem and there has been no slippage and yes we have adjusted our cam gears. 2 years and still going.

thanks guys...I checked the prices on toda and str cam gears. The todas run about $300. The STR cam gears run about $160, which is pretty good. Has anyone heard anything about the newer version of the STR cam gears?

I wonder if it's worth it to pay the extra $140 for Todas...probably not...

Those are the only ones worth getting. The old ones weren't that great.

Not unless JDM bling is worth that much to you.

When you have time to come down for a timing belt/water pump change, I'll try to figure how far off the Skunk2 cam gears are off, and then properly degree them to (0,0). We'll dyno the cams with it set at (0,0) and then back at whatever they were set at before to try to duplicate last times last run numbers.
