i was wondering what is the clear film called that u put on the edge of ur hood so u dont get nicks on it from rocks.and can somebody gimme some tips on putting it on.

 

I believe its clear vinyl. This is the same stuff they make racing strips/stickers from. It just happens to be clear.

An automotive graphics place should know where to get some; perhaps even pre-cut to fit your front end (I am 100% sure there are kits out there for IS300's). I think they tend to be small-business-type deals though...(i.e. 3M makes the material but it's "Joe's Autographics" that actually cuts the kit).

 

I believe there is a class action lawsuit about this product, because it leaves paint with uneven colors and when taken off and may also take off some paint in the removal process.
