Default Went to the track last night....

Here's the lowdown.

99 civic
h22a4 ('99)
Internals are Stock
short-ram intake 2.5" exhaust 2.5" carsound cat, N1 muffler

weighed 2400 without me. and just over 2600 with me

My best time was 14.61 @ 94

I felt the car hook really good off the line, but I misshifted 3rd, and it was still the best run of the night...go figure

Edit: Also on one of my runs I misshifted from 3rd and went to second.....now it seems that my car has a sligth miss at idle...but other than that it seems to run great. Anyone got any ideas about that?

Thanks
Mark

that would be some slightly bent valves.

run a compression check and I'll bet $100 that some of your cylinders compression numbers are off.

I was tired of having my steering wheel up there. It was time to have the powerplant and turbo represented.

Yeah....my homie has a bore-scope so I'm gonna see if there was any piston/valve contact.

yeah, sounds like some valve issues...theres alot of people going from third to second..ive only done it like twice, but it never even jumped over 5 grand, i could feel the car start to nosedive, and immediately pushed in the clutch, but ive seen people like slam it into second gear and full gas...sounded horrible.....i think people need to be more careful and more practice, no offense to you in this thread just in general

first time i let anyone drive my car is when i went home on leave. my dad is racing it down the backroads. 8,000 rpm in third gear (according to the tach which we all know is off) shift to second on accident. BAM!!!! needle is burried. shut the car down, thank god nothing is wrong.

I'd do a valve adjustment and see if that cures your problems. You could have just caused the valve lash to get very loosened. You can have a minorly bent valve or valves and the car can still run alright, sucks to be stuck with it though.

Ok check it out.

Did a compression test, got 215,200,195,205

Then I did a leakdown test, and all were just over 40% (which is considered "moderate" leakage)

I also busted out the bore-scope, and it *seemed* that the exhaust valve releifs had clean indentions on them, and that was on all cylinders.

My friend works in the honda parts dept., and I work in a shop.....so I guess its time to lap some new valves in Or maybe its time to get some skunk2's?

Although I had an offer for a trade to a b18c1, and I just might take it. I like the torque of the h22a, but the fitment in a civic is bad, and the solid mounts make my car shake bad with the A/C on... Permission to flame granted....I dont care...
