Problems with my JDM H22a's dstributor
Well, I heard this terrible grinding noise coming from the engin bay. I check it out, and it sounded like the distributor was grinding. My friend said his sister civic had the same thing go wrong. Has this happened to anyone else on here?? It runs fine, but Im getting it fixed of course. I just wanna know that its my distributor and not something internal. Also since its JDM, is that any different than the USDM distributor??
yes it is different. The USDM set up is for external coil, and the JDM distributor is internal coil. If you didn't touch any of the wiring in the engine harness and used a USDM engine harness. Then the coil wires are not in the right place.

So where can I get a new distributor for my motor since it needs a internal coil. Im not gonna convert to a USDM one and all that junk. I just wanna get one as soon as possible.
**** dude I had the same problem. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR TILL YOU GET IT FIXED!! It means that the bearings on the inside are going bad. And the thing is my car totally shut off before I could get it home and jumped a tooth on the exhaust cam. Good thing I didnt bend/break any valves. I have a JDM distro if you are interested. Its ODB I and has the internal coil already in it.
Hit me up on the IM if ya want it!!

And US and JDM distro are way different. They both might be ODB I and the US external coil, however the internals are also different. The crank angle sensors are definately different hence why they at most times cannot be interchanged..
Thank god I stopped driving mine. It just started yesterday so it should be fine except for the bearings. Me and my friend were guessing that it was a bearing that went bad. How much do you want for the distributor. I had another guy offer me the bearing and the rotors for 50 bucks, but Im not sure that he knew I had a JDM motor. How many miles did you have on your motor when it happened to you. I have only put 5 or so on mine since it was installed this winter. I have been goign ot the drag strip alot, and I bet since Ive been beating on the car so bad it has something to do with it.
it seems like all JDM distributors on h22a's seem to go not too long after the swap was done
My distributor took a **** about 5 months after my swap was done, i had a shop rebuild the bearings though, alot cheaper than a new USDM distributor(i couldnt afford to be without a car then, so i needed the cheapest solution), just took alittle longer.

Actully my mechanic used the old H23 distributor so I would have external, and still use the same ignition. So i need a usdm H23 distributor. I was thinking about having is rebuilt, but Im thinking ill just get a whole new one so I never have to worry about it.
THanks for your help though.

The USDM H22 and H23 distributors are the same. An F22a dist. will not work, as the bolt pattern to bolt it to the head is different.
