help! tranny or axle problem
as i was driving today, i shifted from first to second and all i heard was a loud thunp and when i went to shift into second and driver further, second gear wouldnt pull. i pull to the side, put it in first and when i was letting go of the clutch, the car did not move but there was a noise where as though something was turning but not catching and rattling. could it be the teeth on the axle that are shot and the axle just spins freely and occasionally grinds against the broken peices or is it (hopefully not) the trans, differetial in particular. can comeone shed some light on this please
thanks in advance

i went badck to the car and the noise is coming from the far right (driver's side) so im hoping/guessing it is the axle.
**fingers crossed**

Hey, we care... What happened? Did it spin apart at the outboard CV joint splines? Did it just break in the middle somewhere?
