Default goodbye integra, hello gti...

well...its been fun owning an integra but last week i traded the integra in for a new vw gti 1.8t. the integra handled better than the gti and was arguably better looking, but i see much more potential in the gti. the vw has 180 horsepower and 174 ft-lbs of torque stock, and these numbers can be increased by 20% with a "chip" (upgrades the ecu) for $500.00. i didn't see any performance upgrades for the integra that were as effective, practical, or cost-efficient. furthermore, the integra's insurance rates were higher despite the gti's higher horsepower and torque numbers. anyhow, both cars are excellent bargains and while i'm becoming a vw enthusiast i still have much respect for japanese cars and their owners. you guys have been a valuable resource and i wish you the best of luck with your cars.

Not a bad choice... SELL OUT!!. JK, I considered getting an Audi A4 1.8T quattro. The motor definitely has potential. Good luck with it

Those new GTI's are already known for their notoriously bad reliability. I will never buy a Volkswagen, but I do agree the new GTI is a damn good looking car. FYI, you'll be buying new floormats for it in a year or two, they don't last for ****. In N.H., I would a guess that 80% of all VW owners are burnouts, dealers, growers and whatnot. What say you?

umm no they arent. the window regulators suck but thats about it. the 1.8T is ROCK SOLID. LOL and your complaining about floormats?

Have fun with your new gti. They're sweet, a bunch of my friends are Audi/VW'ers. I know the guys at APR, too

BTW, don't go cheap on the chip. Alot of the crappier companies have destroyed quite a few motors from bad tuning. Although APR's stuff is overpriced you will have piece of mind with it.

Ummm, yeah they are.According to Consumer Reports 2003 cars issue below average reliability for the fuel system, electrical system, power equipment, and body integrity. Predicted overall future reliability "much worse than average". "Used cars to avoid" list - "Volkswagen Golf 99-01, Jetta 95-02, ect.", oh and look at that, no Acura's on the used cars to avoid list FOR ANY MODEL OR YEAR , only one Honda - The Passport.

I really wish you pull your head out of your ***, n00b. The new gti's are very good cars. The 1.8T will go into limp mode for just about anything. It's a very indestructible motor.

Next time you wish to waste our time with a post like this, you had better have some fact to back it up.

Either way, this guy wasn't asking for your sofa king we todd did answer, so STFU and keep it to yourself. He just bought a new car and is happy about it, who do you think you are trying to ruin his fun?

WiggiE, that's cool that you know some of the guys at APR, VW/Audi/Porsche owners seem to really like their products. APR's chips are unique because you can toggle between "stock" and "chipped" modes using the cruise control button. USDMDC2NH, i'm not sure what to make of your comments. i haven't heard of poor reliability aside from the window regulators that rewsnaeht mentioned (a chronic VW problem for years), and i'm not all that concerned with the floor mats. anyhow, to each his own.

And valet mode, which is super sweet. It limits the speed to 30mph, rpm to 3500 or so(I forget the actual numbers now), and it opens the wastegate completely. So no boost for valets

Also, don't forget they have different software for 91, 93, and 104 (maybe it's 100)octane gas. I think you can have up to three different programs, besides stock, that you can use. Most of my friends have stock, 93 octane, 104 octane and valet.

If you run into trouble or need help in any way let me know. I'm sure I could pull a couple of strings for ya.

hey WiggiE, it would be awesome if you left me your e-mail address so that i can contact you when i go about getting a chip. i'm definitely going to go the apr route, but i'll probably do a little research and try to find out whether chipping will interfere with my warranties or jeopardize reliablity. have your friends all been pretty happy? any negative side effects with the chip?

I didn't realize hondatech was also run off zeroforum. Anyway Let me guess USDMDC2NH is one of those posters always talking smack? Get a clue bro, VWs are not a piece of ****. And neither are Hondas/Acuras. Anyway someone running only a 15.39 should not be talking. Arent you driving a gsr?

step over to the otherside and see the magic we call DUB.
BTW My brother owns a teg so I know what its like to drive one.
