Valve Adjustment and 60k maint. $?
I know ALOT of you do your own valve adjustments but, I don't know if I'll have the time to learn how to do it. I called up one of the local dealers here and got quoted for about $180! The 60k service was about $700!!! I can understand the service being that high seeing it's a dealer and any work you get done there will cost you a fortune.. but a valve adjustment is $180?!? I could have sworn it was supposed to be like $80-90? I'm a crazy?
Anyone have a list of the 60k maint. work that needs to be done. I'm sure I can do most if not all. Maybe, I need to do my own valve adjustment.
$700 for 60k maintenance???
thats crazy!
i have to get my 60 k done soon too, looks like i'm gonna just buy whats needed and have my local shop do it for me...somebody please list 60k maint??

i have the coolant drain and valve adjustment guides on my website with plenty of pictures.. so go check it out and figure out for yourself ifyou think you can do it. My site does teh valve adjustment on an LS motor, but i provide specs for a GSR as well, and its pretty much the same process.

Surprise surprise, the original poster was started by the $700 quote and neglected to specify what the $700 maintenance entails.
$700 is a lot of money, but not when the timing belt and all the other work done at 60k+ is concerned.

yup... sounds like a deal u would get from a friend if he was jus chargin u parts cost or so...
but on the upside, alot of dealership parts depts will price match other dealerships n such so what i do is go into the dealership and quote the acura carland prices and they match em.

Well, I did ask what this envolved and got some half *** list of what they "check" and replace. He didn't go through the whole list but it didn't sound like anything that crazy. I wasn't looking to find prices on 60k tuneups but, I was curious seeing how the vavle adjustment, which I've heard of people paying like $80, was $180.
If I would have gone down there I would have asked for a printout to have. Kind of use it as a checklist.

that's probably because lucas does the valve adjustment himself while he pays the $25 for the gasket.

i paid around $800 from cerritos acura. son of bitch didn't even adjust my valve. those ******* didn't do **** to ma car. go to south coast, they do hell lot better job than cerritos.
Hmm..to my knowledge, a 60k service for integras are $380 or something like that at the dealership. IMO 60k service has alot of "checking" BS.
