Default ANYBODY out there running N/A 1.8 non vtec motors?

well im just wondering if theres anyone out there that is running an N/A setup on a 1.8 non vtec and what are your guys setup, times, whp and what kind of car is it in..trying to get into the 12's pretty soon and i need some advice..so is there anyone out there? thanks in advance..

oh BTW here is my setup if anyone is interested..

94 head , head work done by Dennis at LDL speed shop in vegas
ported and polish(street/strip)
3 angle valve job
crower 404 cams
crower dual valve springs and ti retainers
skunk 2 intake manifold
msd inline fuel pump
chipped p06..wrong ecu i know..but works for now.
STOCK CAM GEARS
JDM b16a s1 tran
act 4 puck clutch
no name short ram intake
DC 4-2-1 2pc headers
custom 2 1/4 exhaust
90 teg b18a STOCK BLOCK

and pretty much thats about it..still havent had the chance to tune it and dyno it but my best time with that is a 13.8 with full interior, molded body kit, power door locks and etc..i ran those with some 20x8x14 slicks so it wasnt that bad and plus i was on 91 octane pumped gas..cali sucks we dont get 92-up like you eastcoast guys do ..heres my timeslip

R/T .822
I1 : 1.919
I2 : 5.630
I3 : 8.784
Mph (I3)
I4 : 11.520

E.T. : 13.871
MPH : 95.959

let me know if my times are good or if its bad, next time ill gut it out and get some better slicks, im on a budget and i know my motor can run better than that, im ONLY 16 years old so yeah im getting there and i want to get into the 12's pretty soon so i can get ready for the next event

Actually there was a guy that used to run a non vtec engine by the name Aaron Schley or something like that it ran in the 11's. Also Coleman Gee he ran a B20 engine and it ran low 11's last year in that Hocus Pocus all motor hatchback.

Correct me if Im wrong but i think you are talking about CoTorres Gee from Hocus Pocus i think he always ran a V-tec motor. The only car i know that did really well was the Red integra that DPR did back in the days.

Hey unstopableDJ nice to know that Dennis's head is putting out the numbers. Your next step is to squeeze more compression out of the bottom end and lighten up the car and you should be i the 12s in no time.

yeah your head seems to be pretty welll built, maybe up the CR with some je pistons and headgasket, that should be about 400 bucks. some tuning, maybe a race header... how high are you revving up to right now? i hear those 404s make power up to like 9 k or something

yeah im thinking about getting my block done, but damn this head did cost me a grip as well and im still a student so i guess in a couple months i should be able to have a block built up and im reving up to 8k and i still make power because i can feel it, and yeah i think a better header and some tuning should get me at a lower 13 sec range, and YES these crower 404 cams do make power up to that rpm range but i cant get it up there yet..still stock block and untuned

thats a pretty good time..but like i said it still hasn't been tuned to the max so i know i can do better then that..its still on stock cam gears and not even the right ecu, so when i get everything done properly ill go time it again with bigger slicks and my times should be lower

what transmission and what car? I'm guessing the white ef in your avatar.

The mph seems low for your set-up. You should be atleast @ 97mph....especially in a light ef civic.

throw some CTR pistons in there, should put u in the mid 11.x :1 cr range, and its a cheap upgrade, the cams will love it.

no, your compression computation is off ... it'll be in the 12ish compression range ... requiring big camshafts, at least a 285 or 295 duration with 91 octane fuel

suprdave 14.5 in what chassis ? thats hella fast in an integra

When I went to the Import shoot out at Capital Raceway in MD a couple weekends ago there was a white EF with MD plates that read "NONVTEC". Built B18A/B w/ ITB's. There was a crowd around him most of the time because If I remember correctly he was running low 12's and touched 11's that day, so I didn't get a chance to discuss his set-up. Anyone know?

That's my boy Rick from Midalantic Motorsports. It's not my place to share anybody's set up but their website is http://www.mamsports.com.

yeah i think i will just go with some CTR pistons since im on a budget and it is a really good upgrade that is cheap..

as for the head work i got it done around 800-900 with crower dual valve springs and retainers installed..

and for that guy running 12.50's..damn thats where im trying to reach..i just looked at his site and its not showing much info..seems like it was barely posted up..ill check back and see what else he's got and etc..thanks for your help!

I used to be a loyal Friday test and tune ***** but my work schedule has restricted my racing fun to Sundays. Have you ever been to Northern Parkway? If you have I might know you.

I used to have a black EK coupe with black GSR's last year. This year I drive a black AWD Talon but most the time I roll around in a silverish gold C5 Vette. A skinny asian dude.

dj, nice setup and times for untuned man.

I plan on going somewhat allmotor b18b, crower 405's, p&p'd head, header tech header, chipped ecu, safc and big t.b.
But the plan is to juice it till goes boom and go 2.0 13.0:1 compression all motor ( got some 84.5 mm 13.0:1 pistons sitting in my room right now)
But i am not touching the block for now, due to i am gonna run a nice shot of nitrous, direct port.
But i am gonna see how quick it is bone stock b18b, gsr tranny, 1800lb chassis ( right now), slicks and 3" intake and open header.

So good luck and post a dyno chart when you get one.
