Default 15.115@91.96 Help!!!

I have a 95 si hatch with a jdm gsr motor a short ram intake and a custom 2.5 exhaust skunk 2 mani and skunk 2 chipped p28, exedy organic cluch and CM flywheel. I went to the track yesterday and could only pull off a best of 15.115 @91.96 mph? I was running nitto 450 tires @30 psi and took out spare tire. I think that my vtec engagment point is hurting me it is set at 5700 per skunk 2 specs I am wondering if I lower it to around 4800 will it help the 60" and the 1/4 mile times? I think I should have lowered the psi in the tires a little more also? here is the full time slip info. I think I can brake into 14'S what do you think?

R/T .444
60" 2.38
330 6.483
1/8 9.803
mph 73.86
1000 12.671
1/4 15.115
MPH 91.96

At 91 mph in the 1/4 your about at what you should be running. The best launch in the world wouldn't matter since your not making enough power to pull your car much faster. Are you sure VTEC is working? I'd check the motor itself because for some reason it doesn't sound healthy.

Your running a chipped p28 but are you running a skunk2 intake manifold? If not what is opening you secondaries?

Your Skunk2 chipped ECU's vtec engagement should be at 5000-5200 the Mugen program I think is 5700. I have the Skunk2 in my car and have had the Mugen and the Feels and Skunk2 is 5000-5200

your motor has no power, you need to check it out to see if anything wrong with it. I use to run shitty time because of traction. but my MPH is around 97.

how many times have you ran at the track?
get ur 60' down to a low 2.2, high 2.1 and you should see high 14's easily.

It has nothing to do with your driving. Yeah your 60' times could use a little work, but they aren't attrocious. What concerns me is that your E/T and MPH are right about on. Now if you were trapping like 95+mph I would say "oh yeah it's your driving". The real Skunk2 program has a VTEC crossover @ 4,800rpm and a redline of 9,200 per Skunk2. Are you throwing any codes? Does your car want to stall at idle? My guess is either that chipped P28 is duming WAY to much fuel (which more then likely it is) or you have a wiring problem. Either way you should be trapping a good bit higer.

Yes your trap speeds seem extremly low for a JDM GSR in a hatch....My GSR del sol is trapping 78 in the 1/8 to your 73 yet to run in the quarter

Well I think it's also important to know the track conditions/elevation.

When I run at LACR, i do 90-93mph. That's just under 3000ft elevation i think.
Ran a couple times at Sears Point, and was doing 96-98mph.

I wouldn't be so quick to assume something is wrong with the motor. I know a lot of people that don't know about LACR and were telling me that my motor sucked, it's blown, etc.

If the track conditions are good, then I'd start worrying about the motor's health.

don't forget it's an Si hatch. Those things are pigs. DX coupes of the same year are lighter. And if you are running a p28 with the GSR IM then that would explain some, you don't have any low end torque because the butterflies are open all the time. Get a p72 ecu or a skunk2 IM or rig up some extra rpm activation for the butterlies.

edit: you did say skunk2 mani so I would say your VTEC point being so high might be hurting you. With an Si hatch I don't think you'll be much lower than 14.6 or so just so you know ( I could be wrong but speaking from experience ) and the track and the conditions will have a big effect on times too.

It may be track conditions, but damn that's rough. 14.6? There's a blue 92Si here with JDM GSR swap, AEM ITR intake, ITR t/b, Skunk2 mani, JDM 4-1 wide open, chipped p28 w/ act/fidanza and 22/8/15's runs 13.7's. Full interior. Keep at it man. Pray it's track conditions, but maybe try a compression test just to be safe. I honestly just think it is the ECU program. Get it on a dyno, just for one wideband run and look at your a/f. Those ECU like to run riiich.

definitely lower your vtec to around 4500 rpm, and see how it fairs. You should see improvement. You definitely should be in the 14's with your setup. Practice launching and lower the psi a tad bit. Good luck

i dunno about lowering vtec to 4.5k. That should be where you launch at 4-5k.

Redline07: Whose that in your sig? :HOT: damn

those are the exact times/speed my car was putting in with a stock jdm gsr... i never understood it.
turned out to be a blown headgasket.

there's very little ways to tell how a jdm motor has been treated before purchased.

I think a little better than a 15.1 is possible with a 91.96 trap. Back when I was on a 65 shot I ran a 14.6@92. That was on Nitto 555r drag radials.
