Default auto to manual swap..

i might be thinking about one. andi was wondering wehre i would get all my parts from. can i get a type-sir LSD tranny? this is for a 5th gen lude. how much would the tranny itself and labor cost me (with shipping)? i heard that if you buy a manual car it will be faster than my auto to manual. i was thinking it would be the same thing. like they are saying that i would be faster if i got a manual car tahn if i changed my auto to manual. is this true. and thanks

You're likely going to spend more than $1000 just for that transmission. More if you can source it out new.

Besides, the gearing on that tranny is the same as the regular 5th gen manual. Get a 4th gen LSD tranny or Euro R tranny if you want an LSD.

Why would that be true? What reason would a car that was swapped from auto to manual be slower than a manual from the factory? As long as you take off everysingle automatic piece & put on all the manual pieces, the car would weigh the same and have the same gearing/hp/torque as a stock 5-speed from the factory. The only difference I could think of is on the throttle body (at least on the 4th gens)- automatics have a larger rotor for the throttle cable than the 5-speeds which was meant to help in throttle response (which might even help you).

I got a 4th gen JDM tranny, so I'll be faster than a stock 5th gen manual.

find a JDM LSD tranny. Or go with a Prelude SiR LSD tranny (same gearing as 5th gen) or a Euro R tranny.
