Who's had enough of FI?
Seems like half the people I chat with want to get out, are getting out or are already out of the FI scene. Where do the rest of you stand?
Maybe after the next fast and furious movie comes out everyone will be getting back in

i don't think it's an option to get out of FI now. I enjoy the NA cars to, by no means are they slow. But i'm looking to get a daily driver, and i'm considering throwing a small low boost turbo kit on it also if I don't get a factory turbo car.
For me the joy is in building a car, working on it, tuning it, and racing it. I know I'd stay in it even if it weren't about how much money I've spent on it. Next project on another car is gonna be all motor, but I'd never give up my turbo project.
I have way too much money, time, and sweat invested to give up now. I have been turbo for 13 months and loved every minute of it, even the pain in the *** ones. I expected to have some trouble, hell I am turbocharging a car that was not turbo from the factory, and which also has an aluminum block. I think I have had less trouble than most because I know what not to do, and how to prevent certain things from going wrong. I also meticulously maintain the car, and have for the 3 years I have had it. In the future I hope to add forged pistons, rods, and an electronic boost controller so I can run some more (~15psi) boost.
i enjoy what i got.
i think keeping the motor stock is a real good rule of thumb for a street car. cracking the motor open creates a whole new magnitude of costs.

I agree!
The cost of pistons and rods is just the tip of the iceberg. When I add up all the money I've spent on machine shop labor, bearings, seals, gaskets, etc...it really adds up!

I think we all go through a feeling of "**** this it's not worth it". and want to get out. I know I've felt that way & I watched Boosted Hybrid Flip flop between N/A & FI so many times just cuz of the seemingly endless hassles.
But that comes & goes, once in a while it takes one of us down.
Let me say this, noone with a healthy, (paid for) FI car is looking for an out.
It's just too fun!

im starting to get there, with little stuff breaking like oil pumps and such, but im also 32 years old but im really really fighting the feeling not to grow up.
Forced Induction is just plain fun, when you push it to the max, its rather painstaking, but at times, well worth it. My next turbo setup will be more "simple"

if money was not an issue i will never get rid of my ride. FI is just plain fun.

thats why im planning on all N/A, i want to have somewhere between 180-200 hp to the wheels when im done. dont get me wrong, turbo hondas are just awsome when done right, but there just not made for forced induction and cost way too much to be done right. if i want boost i'll buy a nissan. just my opinion. all motor costs a pretty penny too, but i like all motor hondas just as much.
I hope you are not getting discouraged Phil.. but i thoroughly enjoy FI. At times yes it does/did get a bit frustrating but I am glad it's all done. It is a hobby that I have chosen and in a way am in too deep to go back but I don't really any regrets.
I'm feeling a little more confident now that I will be running a cast iron block...saves me a lot of dough on sleeving too. I think this motor ought to hold at least 400 whp on stock internals, so I'll be good for a while
I almost wish my motor would have blown in the hatch instead of wrecking it though

was boosted for a year, sold the unreliable rx-7, was going to go all motor, said "**** this I won't have crap for torque.......I need boost", now I am almost back to spooling

wondering who you have been talking to. I am in process of making a come back
