Default D Series Run W/O Oil Pressure?

Me and my friend here are having a discussion over whether or not a D15 or D16 will run without oil pressure for any reasonable amount of time. My contention is that if the oil were drained from the motor, it would spin bearings in a matter of a few minutes, even at idle. In my opinion, if it were revved *at all* it would probably throw a rod due to seized bearings.

He disagrees and claims it would run for a while.

Anyone wanna tackle this?

I think we have seen enough spun bearings with an LT1 to last a life time Ryan. Im thinking about buying a new Rex and plop my motor in it. What do you think?

when me and a buddy blew up his crx we drained all the coolant and all the oil out of it and stuck the gas pedal to 5000 rpms, it took 30-45 minutes to blow but when it did holy ****!

I am contemplating a way to blow my A6 up; I am trying to find a friend w/ an N2O system that I can borrower for a day or 2 so I can run 150 shot to see how long the A6 will last. My ZC apparently arrived at my mechanics today so I am not too worried aboy my dying A6-blowing it sounds like fun

I've heard of people changing their oil, then forgetting to fill it back up again, and they drive down the block then it seizes up...so I'm guessing it'll run for a few mins. This was also on old *** v8's though.

DJ_SaNdOz....video tape that ****!

Ok im the one who dis-agrees with TheHeadFL.

Now im not sayin ANY motor can just drain the oil and run for like 10 minutes. What I am saying is that for some reason the D15s and D16s will run for a while without oil pressure, but they shouldnt. I have heared of poeple doing motor swaps, trying to blow up there motor buy drainging thier oil, but they end up pulling it out, disapointed that they could not.
