Default Suspension?

My friend is willing to trade my stock springs for his ground control coilovers. i talked to my dad about it since he was been working on Domestic Cars forever and he said that it is stupid for everyday driving and that it will just make the ride stiffer and more bouncy and bumpier. i tried to tell him that it will improve handling and cornering as well as the ride. he still will not let me do anything with the suspension. it really makes me mad because its my car and they won't let me do what i want to do with it. so if i want my car to be a bit lower what can i do? something that is not noticeable hardly at all. please help...parents need to undertsand us teenagers that are almost 18 and can handle things on our own.

it would be bouncier if you just swap the springs........

Since it's ground control, it should ride pretty well. I would switch with your friends and adjust it to stock height until your dad says yes, then dump it.

Your father is both wrong and right. The GC coilovers will stiffen the ride which helps in corncering but if you do not get aftermarket shocks with them, the ride will be bouncy because stock shocks were not made to handle the stiff spring rate. In conclusion, switch with your friend and save up for some Koni/KYB/Tokico shocks.

If it isn't your dads car why did you ask him for permission. Just do it and don't bring anything up with your dad anymore.

well see it happened when i tried to put in new nokya h4 bulbs in my old dx and i accidently dropped the bulb in the housing and couldn't get it out so i had to ask him to help me and he said the next time i plan to do anything to my car i should ask him. i might just do it anyway and keep it stock height. i don't know i don't want to slam the car or anything just want it lowered about 1.5-1.75.

The beauty of coilovers is that you get to choose your height (to a certain degree)

No offense but if you are having problems installing bulbs on your car, then maybe you SHOULD consult with your dad first before doing anything to your car.

that sux dude.....i say if you can sucessfully change the coils for the springs at your buddys house, go ahead and do......just keep the GC's at stock ride height.....in the long run you will be happy that you did it. but dont **** up cause then your dad will have a reason to be on your ***.

You will need aftermarket shocks in order to prevent a bouncy ride with the ground controls. Also, what is the spring rates on the GCs? They may be entirely too stiff for daily driving.

If you are still living under your parents roof, then you should respect their opinion.
