Polished OEM Honda Pistons
I was considering purchasing some ENDYN hi-compression pistons for my LS/VTEC project in the works, but I am having some second thoughts with the availablility and great price of USDM B16 pistons. Has anyone ever attempted to polish these OEM honda pistons to acheive the smooth look and hopefully smooth combustion mixture flow like the WEISCO-endyn pistons? I guess my only concerns would be the difficulty in hand polishing four different pistons to be exactly the same, as well as possibly decreasing the compression by removing material from the piston. Let me know what you think, if I get enough negative response I'll just buy them and leave 'em be.
Thanks,
Rich

I would just leave the pistons as is. Polishing them won't net you that much. And it could hurt some since they all will have subtle differences...
Just my $0.02.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking, maybe I'll just get some SRP's or something, they are reasonable and they'll build whatever compression I'm looking for...
the rollerwave is an entirely different animal. for one, rollerwaves are forged, oem are cast. i'd go rollerwaves all the way, but remember you can't just drop them in...
Yeah, I realize that they are 81.5 mm pistons and you must bore at least .25 over depending on rings, but after all the recent ENDYN BS floating around, I'm a little scared to start dishing out the credit card #. I SO wish they had a little more information on the website, maybe an Address or pictures of the shop. I'm not trying to start an ENDYN vs whatever battle, but my hard earned money is my hard earned money, and I don't feel like driving to TX to fight it out if I get fucked in the long run. Maybe if anyone has a shop that sells ENDYN parts that are already in stock, I'll pick up a set of them.
even with all the BS flowing around concerning his shop i wouldn't worry about ordering parts from him. most people who have ordered parts from him usually give very positive feedback and recieve their parts in a timely fashion.
Yes, and if you really care whether he does his work in his house or at a shop, then I don't know what to tell you. A lot of real good port and polish guys only do it on the side, at their house. Who gives a crap about where they work?
