Default is 91 alternator same as 1992?

I need an alternator for my civic (92 LX with B7) and I found one new for a really good price but it is for a 1991. I thought I heard somewhere that alternators for D series engines are the same between 1988 and 1995, any truth to this? should I buy it?

Common! this is an actual tech related question that everyone says this forum is for! you get 30 replys for "look at my new CF lip" and not one for an actual tech question. There are a lot of smart honda people on here, I know someone has to know the answer.

As far as I see in my parts catalog at work (Honda), the 1991 uses a different part number than that used for the 1992-1995. They are both made by Mitsubishi. Maybe they would be interchangable, I can't be certain. But if I were to guess, I would say no, as they use different part numbers.

wellt eh thign with 88-91 civics are that the are obd0 or (clear plug) cars and 92-95 are obd1 0r (grey plug) cars. when i mention the plugs its because the altenator plug on the harness from 88-91 should be different than the 92-95. i know when i do b series swaps into 88-91 civics and crxs and i get a obd1 motor with a obd1 altenator i alwyas have to get a clear plug obd0 altenator off of a 1st gen b16 from somewhere like online since in the US there was no obd 0 1st gen b16 except for in japan. hope that helps

usable yes.
some wiring / harness-modding needed, yes. (obd0 vs obd1 = different plugs for the alternator too!)
big deal, nope.

go for it.
