Loss of Power and Backfiring
Here's my problem:
About 3 weeks ago, I was driving my car over to a friend's house and about 15 minutes into my journey, I experienced a loss of power in 2nd gear. I parked it at his house for a couple hours and then started it up again. It ran fine all the way home. A couple days later, I experienced a similar problem this time in 4th and 5th gear. It's gotten progressively worse so now whenever the car has been running for a little while and warmed up, it has almost no power and backfires sometimes.
We've checked the spark plugs and they appear to be fine and each cylinder fires normally. Also, there are no engine codes or warning lights showing up either.
My dad thinks it might be the timing belt has slipped but since it runs fine until the engine warms up, he wasn't sure on that one.
The car: '92 Accord EX, 90k miles. Mods: Short-ram Intake
You guys have any ideas or does it just sound like the timing belt?
Thanks in advance for any help either way.

check your fuel injectors to see if they are clogged, if they are, they could be dripping fuel instead of spraying it so you will not be burning the fuel efficiently causing the power loss

It's likely that it might be your timing or something a long that line (i.e. timing belt, bad cap or rotor, plug wires, etc.). My experience has been that if the car backfires, then it is most likely the timing is off mark. Lack of fuel should not cause it to backfire. Lack of fuel would cause the engine to create detonation. Interesting that the car is not flashing a code. Good luck!
