Default intake question

I know this topic has probably been done to death, but I am going to ask it anyway since I have still heard mixed responses....

Everyone seems to think that AEM CAI's are the way to go... no argument there.
But all of the mechanics I have spoken to say that you really shouldn't mess with the intake on most Honda's because more often than not you actually lose power.

So... Which is true? I want to get a AEM CAI for my H23 (had exhaust work done, otherwise stock)
What sort of power gains can I expect?
This will probably determine wether or not I go ahead and order one (keep in mind that they cost around $400-$500 here... boo

yes, go with CAI, that's the first thing almost EVERYONE does to their car for performance is the CAI, and yes aem is the way to go, you don't lose performance, i think you gain like 7-9 hp

Is it possible to mount an custom intake further towards the front of the car to get even better flow and colder air?
Pictures please!!!

Also, I am looking at going FI soon, will I be wasting my money to get a CAI now? or can I use it later?

Sorry to sound so newb...

well, since almost all CAI are close to the same thing why don't you just buy one off of ebay for $50, especially if your planing on going FI in the future

If you are not planning to go FI, go for the AEM. When I hade mine I loved it. Would reccommed them!
