Default Do our Type R have this...

Check this out, it was taken from the s2000 forum http://www.racingcraft.com/js-produ...000-final.shtml
Can this be done to the Type R also?

4.1 Gear (stock)

0-60 5.0
0-100 12.4
0-140 34.03
1/4 mile 13.70
Top speed 150 MPH

4.3 GEAR

0-60 4.9
0-100 12.2
0-140 35.13
1/4 mile 13.69
Top speed 148 MPH

4.44 GEAR

0-60 4.8
0-100 12.1
0-140 33.38
1/4 mile 13.57
Top speed 149 MPH

4.77 GEAR

0-60 5.0
0-100 11.9
0-140 32.71
1/4 mile 13.54
Top speed 144 MPH

The 4.44 is a great performance enhancement. The added drive force at the wheels is superb. The 4.77 would be hard to live with day to day, worth it for autoX though.

We have a 4.40 stock final drive.
Theoretical top speed is about 160mph maybe a tad more.

Steve,

I dont understand.. I thought our top speed was 143 because of drag. Seems like you meant something by "theoretical" but will you explain.

Thanks,
Jon

Exactly what you think he is saying
If there wasnt any Drag then it would be about 160, but actual top speed is about 143-145, I hit it once (Scary) and because the speedo gets a little off the higher you go it read in at about 155 mph
I Dont Reccomend trying to hit Top Speed unless your on a closed track

Im not sure how accurate our speedos are at that speed. But Im guessing it is less than 143.

I hit top speed (?) on the highway a few times but it was totally straight. The steering wheel was VERY light at that speed but otherwise it was ok.

Hmm... 160? before i say anything else.. or get flamed for street racing.. etc.. etc.. it would take some time to reach that speed right? Just as an example.. my brother, me and my friend were coming back from Santa Barbara back to LA a little pissed since we ended up driving 4hrs total for nothing.. basically made a U-Turn once we got there and i managed to get a rolling stop ticket!! FAWK! my very first ticket in 5YRS of driving..

anyhow on the way back.. once we were in LA two fine *** chicks rolled up in a white SLK w/HID's and boned out in front of us.. my brother has a 00 GTS and my friend 240SX (abnormal mods) so we all went for a little chase.. everyone was doing about 100 for a little while then when the road opened up i went up to 140 i think around 7600rpm.. once it got there it moved really slowly so i shut it down.. the GTS did about the same since he was in fornt of me when he took off but did not go any further from the time he took off. BTW, this was all at 4AM.. The SLK was actually impressive.. they kept up the whole way.. we slow down then they bone out again.. Anyhow the point of this post is that it took me a really long time to reach 140mph.. according to test results found in mags and etc.. i says 153.. the needle climbs really slowly once you reach 135.. so i would imagine to reach that speed you really need to go to a track intended for that where you can go straight for much longer period of time.

btw.. the 240 had fun with all of us.. reaching speeds past 160 i'd say.. that car is practically size of a supra and certainly can maintain that speed safely if no cars are present.. left me standing at 130 while i was trying to top out my car like i was going in reverse

When Car & Driver tested a 97 Type R, not broken in, it did 143 mph at 7500 rpm in 5th gear. 7500, I believe, is the torque peak of our engine. More power and torque would allow us to overcome the aero drag and reach higher revs. Divide 143 by 7.5 (thousand rpm), you get 19.06 mph for every 1000 rpm. 19.06 multiply by 8.4=160.16 mph.

160.16 mph is possible with stock redline, if you make the power to reach higher rpm in 5th.

Not counting exceptions like minute tire diameter differences from aftermaket wheels and tires some people have.
