is it 11.50 or 11.99 for a cage and do you need a 6 or 4 point cage ?

 

5pt is good to 10.00 or 135mph if you dont modify the floor or firewall

 

i think each event has different rules....like NHRA is different from IDRC

you need minimum of a 5 point to run 11.99 - 11.00 at a NHRA track. 8 point certified to run 10's or faster than 135mph.

you need a minimum of a 5 point to run 11.49 - 10.00 at an IHRA track. don't know mph, but somewhere between 140 to 150. 8 point for 9's or quicker. MIR is an IHRA track. atco, etown, maple grove are all NHRA tracks.

IDRC Regulations are the same as NHRA

Basically if you build your roll bar/cage to NHRA Specs you will be fine at any track.

4.11 Roll Cage

mandatory in all cars running quicker than 10.99 seconds or faster than 135 mph, or per class requirements. cars with unaltered firewall, floor and body (from firewall rearward, wheeltubs permitted) running between 10.00 and 10.99, roll bar permitted in place or roll cage, or per class requirements.

I am looking to get a roll bar built for my drag car but I am scared about this rule. I am not looking to go faster then 9's All Motor so I want a simple roll bar. But there is just something about this that doesnt sound rite. I am going to keep it unibody and uncut. Anyone that is running NHRA and has just a roll bar running faster then 10.99 please help me. Thanks.

 

get a 5PT chrome-moly bar , it will be the lightest and good til 10.00 or get a 8pt cage if your gonna cut your floor- board out.
