Default Plastic cover for SOHC engine?

My SOHC looks pretty similar to this(D16Y8) amd I thought those holes were for some kind of plastic cover that many mordern cars have, but I haven't seen any of those for D16s.

What are these really for?

I've always wanted to make something to fit over it, but when I sat down and thought it over...It would look stupid.

I never doubted there is no plastic cover. Just wondering if it is for the RHD brackets like you said.

honestly, what does it really matter at this point. Your engine is full of bolts holes that aren't used.

the hole in the top left if for automatics, there is a bracket that holds one of the additional cooling lines

But what does it matter? Why does it have to be confirmed?

What was the point of this, you already said it why confirm? No one challenged your suggestion.

I think it's because we are all bored from time to time...Sometimes things unravel in certain ways we can't control.
