i have currently on my GSR

*Greddy 4-2-1 header
*Greddy Evo cat back exhaust

*** as far as the motor is concerned everything else is STOCK!
*** as you can see, my mods make my car smog legal
*** my question is this,
***What modifications can I do to get more power but stay legal. (i want to stay Normally Aspirated).

Naturally aspirated. Anyway, you could get some cams and cam gears, new pistons(ITR or CTR), a carsound cat, new rods, crank, etc. There is an abundance of performance parts for NA engines. You just have to decide what your goal is and how much you want to spend.

i 2nd the carsound cat..you stock cat is creating a bottle neck inbetween your free flowing exhuast parts...then id recomend a valvetrain upgrade and some skunk2 stg 1 cams w/ cam gear and a vafc and tune that sucka...w/ the cams id also recomend gettin a single runner im...like a skunk2, but when doin that youll have to ditch your orginal aem cai and buy a itr cai...that at least 1500 worth of mods to get decent power about 170ish to the wheels...good luck

 

Carsound cat

Keep in mind that cats and test pipes are measured ID, not OD like collectors and exhaust. Make sure you get the right sized one for your system.

Your collector is 2" and your exhaust is 60mm (2.36)

 

get a fuel pressure regulator.

 

Are all these things you guys are mentioning smog legal? I didnt think cams were smog legal? I know that certain cats in california are not smog legal. Where in lake forest are you bro im in Lake Forest too!

start looking around for an OBD1. You can put your stock ecu back on when you need to smog it

I think he wants power mods as he mentioned he wants to keep his car smog legal.

pretty much what was mentioned above. cams skunk2 im carsound cat. Ill eventually go that route after I find my damn jdm itr 4-1

 

Thats what i did for my 98 GSR was a chipped odb-1 ecu and i had a test pipe. i just took in and out for Smog. get a clutch and flywheel too. they make a big differance.
