Default Noise: Tranny Problem??

Aight, noticed a noise coming from my engine yesterday while driving. Realized it made the noise as i accelearted. So, when i got home i had my friend rev the engine to see if i could locate the general area where the noise was coming from. didnt make the noise. drove to work and heard it again. i thought weird. maybe the car has to be actually moving? so i took my friend for a ride with me after work and no noise. so i dropped him off at his car and drove home. on the way home i heard the noise again, and again this morning. whenever i cross 2500 rpms once the car has warmed up it makes a grinding noise then stops once it gets to 2600 rpms. its just for a sec as i cross 2500rpms. tranny problem ya think? thats what someone suggested. any ideas?

its probably your heat shields, every integra I have ever been in has heat shield problems, especially if its an older one, I had to take off all of them cause it was so annoying. on some cars the resonant frequency is at 3500 +- rpm, but I know what you are talking about, you can get most of them off pretty easily but there is one, where the exhaust hangers are part of the shield and you have to cut them off, and re hang it, I recomend dropping the exhaust and cutting around the bolts with a tin snip so you can re=hang to exhaust, the other tricky one is the back side of the header, there is not a lot of room to get a good strong wrench on it, so I recomend using an air ratchet.....hope that helps

im not the best at describing noises but yea....when it hits around 2500rpm it makes a noise almost as if something metal if hitting against it repeatedly. kinda like a vibrating noise. now when i bought the car, i had it looked at by acura and they said that there is "a sound coming from the clutch/transmission. probably loose bearing". that sound is more of an annoying humming sound though. but might be related i dunno.

then we cant help. Try real hard to locate the area the sound is coming from, drive around with a friend... find a vacant lot and drive around him...

Sounds like a rattle.. possibly exhaust.

the sound is definitely coming from the front of the car (ie the engine). sounds kinda like a rattle but louder, and quicker. its just a weird sound.
