fast idle control seliniod question where is it?what happens when it gos bad?
well guys im throwing the code but i dont know exactly what it does or where it is or do i even need it.do i need it is really my biggest question where it is on a 91 si and an 88 si are the two 2nd questions third what r the drivablity symtoms of a bad one
apparently it controls the idle while warming up cold, remove it and you need to carefully apply the gas till the car warms up in cold weather......
are we talking about the eacv? electronic air control valve. if so, its on the back of the manifold, held on by 2 unequal length 12mm bolts. there's also a plug that goes on it, as well as 2 water hoses.

The sensor should be located either on the bottom of your throttle body, or below it bolted to the side of the intake manifold.
Driveability symptoms would be a really weird idle when starting up cold, but this would go away once the engine warmed up.
That's basically what the sensor does: smooths out the idle on cold starts until the engine heats up....do you have to have it ...NO, but it helps if you drive in cold weather
That's everything I know.

but what if i drive in cold weather will it hurt?the reason i ask is cause i have a ported intake manifold for a 88 si and that sensor isnt there and if i can get away with using the ported manifold without major drivablity problems im gonna swap it
it will start, but it'll be rough... you're in the same boat as me the skunk2 intake manifold doesn't have a spot for the fast idle either......
You can get a throttle body for a 94 GSR that has the sensor atteched directly to it, and then you can keep the sensor while also using your ported intake manifold...
