How much will this cost to fix?
I got rear ended by an Escalade on Saturday Night. I want to have an idea on huw much i should expect to get from the insurance company or if it will be totalled. It`s a 93 SI with 106k miles. I didnt take any pictures of the front, but the headlight is cracked and there is a scratch on the bumper for hitting a car in front of me. Also the hood was pushed forward a little bit somehow.
well my moms 2002 accord was rear emded and the damage was similar to yours and the total was about 2500 or so. you can take it to a body shop to get an estimate before the appraiser sees it. that way you know your getting enough money
im thinking more than that. new tail lights, bumper, quarter panels, trunk, frame straightning probably. it all looks like it might be easier to replace than to actually repair... but than again, im not a body shop type of guy.
Since they were driving a better car than you.....
Get a lawyer asap and make sure you go to a chiropractor and everything.
Soon you'll be in an Escalade also.
In all seriousness, thats at LEAST 3g's of damage. What insurance company will you be going through? What insurance did they have?

He has State Farm Insurance, I`mhoping they total it because i was actually trying to sell the car and had basically sold it. If they don`t total it, selling a car that has been in an accident is a lot harder.

If they total it, you can probably buy it back cheap, like for a grand, and then sell off the parts that are still in good shape, or get it fixed cheap. I crunched the front corner of my car a couple years back, and they totalled it. After my $1000 buy back, they cut me a check for $7400!!! Needless to say, I had the car repaired, and a complete new paint job, and still had a couple g's left in my pocket for insurance for the next couple years. Good deal in my opinion.
If the car is totalled, there is a slight chance i might buy the car back from the insurance company and part it out. Would anyone be interested in any of the parts?
Based on what I've seen hanging around body shops, friends damage/family damage, etc, etc, I'd say that depending on how bad the front is, and replacing all damaged parts with oem honda, about $6000. Both rear quarter panels are mangled enough for a body shop to replace them, and thats $1-2000 per side, if they blend the paint.
Oh by the way, the guy i got rear-ended by has State Farm and they are pretty liberal with their estimates (the adjusters i mean). I needed much less to restore my car and they quoted me for $2,192.
if the rear portion of the frame needs to be straightened, i'd say they will most likely total it out. you can also sell it to someone who's looking to build a race car...
almost 100% that they will total it. if not, get to a body shop that you or someone knows and have them write a big estimate.
a 92-93 si with over 100k just isn't worth much. i believe the limit is something like 65-80% depending on the insurance company to total the cars.
i deal with rebuildables all the time. actually they're not that hard to sell. however, you are looking at a good $4000-$4500 to have the rear and front end fixed. this is of course using as much aftermarket parts as possible.
i wouldn't bother buying it back. start taking some parts off the car now and replacing them wtiht he stock parts before they come take it.

Well, the car ended up being totalled, it had about 6k worth of damage so they just called it a loss. Damn i will miss my car, but I will still be a Prelude owner though, I will hopefully be getting a 5th gen in the near future. Only thing i could salvage out of the car was the Iceman CAI, does anyone want it?

you can give it to me

not sure exactly how much, but looking at the pictures i would say damn near total loss.... take it to a honda dealership for an estimate, as well as a few other reputable shops in your area. then show those to the insurance. make sure they don't just give you an amount based on their adjustor's inspection.
i think is pretty safe to say over $3K for that kind of damage. good luck.
