You'll know if it comes out for sure. Otherwise, it's not. If you want to hear anything, expect hearing it from Acura and not some magazine or internet source (unless it is Acura.com).
Our USDM Hype R lies in the FP Package. Dump about $5Gs in an RSX from the factory and you get Hyped S.
The last thing I heard on this forum on why it's not here is because simply the car won't pass emission with it's exhaust system but I don't know if that was the reason why Honda chose not to bring it here. Along with that statement, if the car did come here you could easily predict some HP loss from the USDM ones.
Trust me, if the car is gonna come, look for Acura's word instead of anyone else's. That goes with the CTR from Honda, too.

Sadly to say no. The introduction of Acura "FP" factory performance killed any ideas of bringing the type R over to the States. Many dealers will tell you it's coming but they don't know crap. You can always import one, but it will cost you a good chunk of change.
If I were you get a type S, and get that 5k you would have spend on the FP package and invest in some real performance parts, get a beer and enjoy the day.

Some people just order the JDM one's why don't you do that too?? i think they get it for atleast $24 ~ 26 ask around or just get the base rsx stick and get the k20a motor on it like me, motor is $5800 with everything ECU tranny and you name it.
It must be coming some time, The R was here before, I think it will come again, with the demand of high performance Japanese cars rising in the states (Evo and STI came here after nearly 10+ years) they would be stupid not too, there is obviosly a market here. They will realize that people don't want the stupid factory performance RSX with no real performance upgrades. Acura will not want to loose business to the Evo and STI. At least I hope.
The problem lies in the fact that honda doesnt make much money on the R's. They actually lost money on the DC2R's. This and the added cost to making it USDM legal (emissions and such) are the primary barriers for any R release in the states. The chances of the Civic R coming here are greater as those two reasons do not factor in for that car.
Im sure this has been said countless times but since search must be disabled i thought I would reiterate.
