1989 Acura Integra RS - Newbie Looking for Guidence
Hi all. I’m a car 18 year-old newbie (computer tech by trade) from NJ, who after a year of helping my uncle with his ’90 Plymouth Laser (‘91 Mitsubishi Turbo 2.1 w/ NOS), was given a
1989 Acura Integra RS w/ 5-spd manual transmission hatchback (1.8L I’m told). I’ve got it running again minus a no reverse and a knocking (I’m told it’s the Camshaft Bearings???). I’ve modified the intake to “free-flow”. I’m not exactly rich, but can save some money (~$3000 USD) before I take the next step. My uncle suggested “frankensteining” a V-TEC head onto my D16A3 block. Any comments on this one? I am one newbie that is willing to learn in my spare time to make sure it all comes out right. I have access to a shop, so tools are really not a problem. I’d really like to concentrate on the engine first, but other ideas aren’t ruled out. After this, I’d like to get a turbo, so can someone advise here? Thx to all.

Man, old school in the house. I always felt the first gen teg had a more neutral feel through the turns, probably due to the ancient solid beam axle. It's also very light. I'd keep that car for the originallity of it. I may be wrong but I believe you can transplant the D16Z6 or D16Y8 into your bay, without custom mounts.
