Default Another Victim

I never thought it would happen to me...
I brought it here to help me move some stuff out when school ends...and today I found it raised on cinder blocks. Fortunately, no visible exterior damage other than the emblems, but all four tires and wheels gone. All i could do was stare in shock...

If ANYONE sees any ITR Gunmetal Rims on sale in the Arizona area, on ebay, anything, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. You can email me at gtang@email.arizona.edu. I was sick of this, and now that its happened to me, I'm absolutely disgusted.

That really sucks. But to be honest, I would be happy if that happened to me as long as insurance covered it. You get a lot of $ from it.

These things should never happen but it is the sad reality of the world we live in.

That sucks, but could actually be a lot worse. The replacement cost from Acura will be very high, enough to pick up Volks or something even better than the stockers. Good luck.

I find it odd that they just took the rims. I guess you can be thankful that the car is still intact.

Insurance does cover it, thankfully, does anybody have a clue to if they will even give me face value for them.

Insurance pays for the cost of replacement. When it comes to parts such as wheels, since they aren't aftermarket, replacing them means buying them from Acura. If they try anything less, fight them. In the meantime, you are stuck having to buy steelies or something else just so the car is streetable. Not being a major claim, they will likely settle w/ you quickly.

I got over 400 dollars for one stock rim from my insurance. Like they said, get a cash settlement and buy aftermarket wheels.

I did this for #009 when I still had her. Bought one off another R owner, and had planned to get a new tag engraved, but never got around to it.

Insurance should do you right. My buddy had his stock Si wheels stolen and with the cost of the wheels from the dealer, he was able to pick up a set of 16" SSR Comps instead.

Did you have wheel locks on your rims?

I would suggest not buying aftermarket wheels for daily driving. They will only attract more attention and increase the chance of another, possibly much worse, incident of theft.

Good point, but when you drive an R you can only make it so much more attractive to thieves (especially if it's PY). Anyway, wheel locks are a simple way to prevent another theft like the one you just experienced. Get 2 different sets. It would require a bit of time to get them off w/out the key, and it seems like the theft you experienced was a quick jack-and-grab job.
