Default 95 or 98 RON fuel ?

My type R, which is a UK spec car has a sticker on the inside of the fuel filler saying use 98 RON unleaded fuel only. What happens if I cannot get 98 RON fuel and use 95 RON insted? I know there is a performance loss but is there long term engine damage?

Here in the UK there is also a big cost difference between 95 and 98 RON ( you don't know how lucky you Yanks are!)

Come on man, we don't even know what RON means, he-heh.

Usually they say it doesnt hurt the engine, but if you shelled out 22k lbs sterling for the car, why skimp on gas?

I did not shell out anything.
I coned the company I work for into buying it as a company car. I'm stuck with it for the next three whole years. What am I going to do
