Really rough idle, please help
Okay, I tried installing an ignition and wasn't able to do it. The idle was very rough; it would idle at 1K kind of rough, then as I would rev it, 1.5K would be really rough then 2K and up it would be smooth. Here is everything I did:
opened hood, unplugged wires, removed distributor cap, turned engine so I could remove the screw from the rotor, took off the cover for the distributor, removed wires from stock coil, put wires from ignition amp on stock coil, connected wires from coil to wires from ignition, put everything back together
I have reverted back to my stock ignition and the idle is exactly the same. Needless to say, I haven't even tried to drive it yet like this. The entire car shakes pretty bad. I am about 95% sure I have the correct firing order on the plugs; just to triple check here is what I am doing:
cylinder 1 2 3 4
Firing order:
1 2
4 3
Is that correct? The wire boots are securely on the spark plugs and all wires and connections are secure.
I don't know what in the world could be causing this; please please help me! TIA.
