Default Need help removing old baked on pinstripes/adhesive.

I have a 93 dx hatch, it has some ugly pin stripes on it that most of the color has simply washed out and left an adhesive residue behind. Id like to find something to remove it with without damaging the paint, i was wondering if anyone has used chemicals for this before, or if wetsanding it would be a good idea. Thanks

SEARCH.

Zippo lighter fluid or nail polish remover.

Dab some on a rag, then hold the rag on the goo for a few minutes to let it soak in without drying out, then start rubbing.

Dont be suprised if you can still see the pinstripes because the paint isn't faded underneath.

To get those disgusting stripes off you need three things:
1) about 1 hour of spare time
2) 1 heavy duty extension cord
3) your mom's hairdryer
My dad used to do vinyl graphics years ago and this is the best way to do it at home without a heat gun specifically for this application. You'll want to start by heating one end of the stripe until you can lift it. Then just take your time by heating the stripes with the hair dryer while GENTLY pulling them off. Good luck!

anywhere tools are sold there is a toll called the "eraser wheel". fits on end of a drill and rips off all pinstripe, emblem tape, etc. use mine like every other day

Hey Jason, I went to Superstition autobody on Main st. between Greenfield and Val vista and paid $30 and they removed it. Its sounds like a lot but it saved me the trouble of doing it and it took them 5 min.

try a product called Goo Gone, then wash and wax your car, it worked when I remove emblems
