Default H22/Crx 1991 Dx

Well, There is no sense in talking me out of it, (I already bought all the parts I need and pre-paid for the labor) $7,600..sheesh! <<it is pricey, because I am doing it the RIGHT WAY, I wont break axles, and it will handle great with the set up I have..AutoX??..nah 1320 here I come...

Anyway, The CRX is a white/black DX, I re carpeted it for all black, put in 2 Recaros (black) and gutted the rest. I am gonna be running on 205.50.15 Rota Slipstreams (flat black) and have the full place racing mounting set up, custom crossmember, axles, wiring harness, pigtail, cable to hydro actuator, custom shift linkage, obd 1 H22a w/LSD cluster said 34,000, and a few other goodies...

The whole front end is removed and we plan on cutting the passenger side of the frame rail to fit the tranny this week, then we are gonna spot weld the mount housings in for fittment. I will need a CF Sir hood that clears the usdm hoodline...(valve cover clearence) I just want to know if anyone has any info of this swap, so I can learn more and get into contact with other h22/CRX'ers. Also I would like to know what you guys think? DONT TRY TO TALK ME OUT OF IT, IT ALREADY HAS BEGUN!!
Let me hear it, good or bad, ok. Thanks..you guys are the best!!!!!!!!!

On http://www.h22a.org there is a guy named Tangerine. He's a guy named Paul from Ontario and he did his swap for an H22 CRX daily driver.

He even made his own mounts so he knows his stuff.

He'll be able to help you.

It's expensive to be one of the first to do something.

Not many people do H22 CRX's. Just like K swaps into EK's.

well- he's not the 1st- Tyrone has done 3-4 I think, and if I remember correctly he was only quoting like $4500ish for the swap. I may be wrong on the pricing, but if you think about it an H22 in a rex/hatch is ALOT of custome fabbed stuff & ALOT of effort. I'm sure that it is well worth it in the end b/c that would make for a PHAT torque monster w/ a nice vtec pull if I had the cashe laying around I'd be doing it too; oh well. g/l w/ your swap man, I want to know what kinda 1/4 mi times that little monster lays down

I have had my h22 CRX for about 2 months now i have had good luck with it minus one snapped axle that i had at the drags, it hangdles better then my homies h22 EG and i always bang gears all over him cuz 1 im lighter and 2 i have a JDM type s which kills him im rocking an OBD0-OBD1 jumper i made my self place racing mounts and i made the cable to hydro conversion, my swap only costed me 3000 but it took about a month cuz i have work and school to attend to b4 i can play around it pulls terribly hard when i rock the 13's and i set vtec at about 55-6k in firnts when im full throttle it wil chirp when vtec engages, so its mad funn power not to mention i have already hit hi 12's and a top trap of 110mph so im happy and those times were on 20 in M/T i already got the h22 tuned to my chipp/VAFC and i added a v12 cold air that my buddie gave me so i know im good for some times when i go out...

Nice....It is good to see a fellow H22/CRX enthusiast, with some good news! Your words make me anxious and I wish that it was ready tonight for Test and tune but alas, I am looking at mid to late next week. Have you weighed yourself and had any runs on the dyno? What were the outcomes? How mich tq are you placing to the wheels? What type of suspension set up did you go with? Compression Ratio? My swap is so expensive because I bought everything, I mean everything that I would need to insure the swap goes in perfect and will not have wheel hop due to crossmeber failure.
Here is a rundown on the costs...
JDM H22a 5speed LSD, $2290 shipped, HMO
88-91 CRX weld in mount system, $434, Place Racing
93 h22a Left oem Mount $127, Place
93 h22a right oem Mount $127, Place
93 h22a rear oem Mount $127, Place
88-91 CRX Custome Fabricated crossmember, $192, place
88-91 CRX CUstom Radius Rods, L and R, $75, Place
88-91 CRX custom radiator bracketfor half panel $30, place
88-91 CRX custom fab Axle Left, $240, Place
88-91 CRX custom fab Axle Right $180, place
93 H22a Hydro to cable actuator $230
93 H22a Star stage 3 clutch $430
93 H22a STR cam gears $145
88-91 full 2 1/2" Exhaust with high flow cat, res, and muff Apex, $350, apexR
Apex I vtec controller, $300, Apex I
labor to install all this crap, and weld in mounts, cutting passenger side frame rail..priceless...j/k 1500.....and other little things like belts and oils and fluids...ect..

SELL THE PLACE KIT...that is the bigges piece of **** mount kit for the H22 into a EF...it looks like ***...the motor sits high...and its a waste of money...fab the mounts yourself, way less hassle and frustration...just sell the damn place kit...trust me its a pile of ****!!

i forgot..besides the mount kit is a piece of ****!! It is possilbe to put the motor in without cutting any part of the frame..that has got to be the dumbest thing you can do...dont cut the passenger side frame rail...i have done it many times and dont cut the frame rail ever...the place kit puts the motor in the wrong location and you dont have to cut the frame to get the H22 in, and you wont snap axles either.

Im real confused. H22 - 200crank hp B18c5 - 200crank hp. The c5 has been done many times before and costs quite a chunk less with much less install work. Why would someone purposely put themselves through all the extra hell of an H22 swap? The c5 proabably weighs alot less as I never hear people talking about c5 handling problems in EFs.

Not trying to flame of course, just seems extremely pointless to H22 an EF.

I see, how much torque does it have?

EDIT: n/m, looked it up and the H22 has 161 while the c5 has 134. I wonder how big of a diff that'll make.

ya plce mounts sucked i only had my first h22 cr for about a month (my car got totaled in front of my girls house about a month after complete) and i was unhappy with them they were nto stable and everytime i would bang gears i would bang my hood harder my second swap i did i used the prelude riverside ount and aligned it to the driver side mount housing and tilted the whole setup back from there i just level it out and i fab the origional motormounts to fit the mount housings on the cr and both times i made my own hydro to cable adapter which was very simple to make my second setup i have now was way stiffer then the place and on top of that i did not have to cut out firewall and it came out way stiffer and about the c5...when u pop ur hood and poeple see a c5 they go cool..when you pop ur hood and they see a h22 they got WTF thats out of control kid and ask like 40 million questions on how i did it and on top of more torque the type s has almost 20 more HP then the C5

is grammer that big of an issue on this board? i mean im sorry if what i write is hard to come by due to typo's and grammer errors but its just a board not something that has to be in MLA format and if i have to revise everytime i put up a post i will spend like 10 minutes in each because my grammer skills are weak as you can see

i can see that but its hard to decipher what you are trying to say, is it really that hard to reread your post and attempt to fix spelling errors? it makes me doubtful that you have all that stuff done to your car when you cant even spell simple words.

at least make an effort.

Thank you...You know what the ********* did? They painted a spare H22a valve cover pink and bolted it on my engine! I'm gonna get them back!

The swap is gonna be complete any day now...I know I will have little issues here and there...but I am pretty anxious about it. The first h22/crx swap completed in Tucson, AZ!!!! SHitty thing is, everyone is gonna know what I have and I cant win any money..exept for the domestics

This post is to have fun and perhaps learn and find out what is going on in the crx world, please look past it if someone dosn't spell to well, or dont use periods as often as they should...

Why didn't you use h series shift cables? they are only like $40 from any junkyard. I dont think i've had any issues with my set up. Good luck man it's truely something to be proud of.

i got the type s front clip of the car for 3000 i sold alot of parts off it but i used the hydro's from that car and the chageover and i also converted to 5lug cuz when i got the clip it came with the rear suspension and hubsetup its way easier when u can get a whole front clip cuz everything u need is there minus the axles and mounts...
