Default 3 years old oil - what to do?

I have bought a 4G Prelude VTEC. The lude has oil changed in November 2000 and has 4000km on it (cca 2600miles). So the oil there was 2.5 year old and even if practically not much driven, was very black. So I changed it with filter and after 100km the oil is black again. What should I do? Another oil change? removing and cleaning the oil pan?

I would not worry about it. Maybe thats just me though. As long as it has been changed every 3000 miles.

my old integra had that problem once. i had a local tire shop run an oil system cleaner through it, and that pretty much cleaned it out. i did it again about 2500 mi afterwards, just to be sure it was clean. maybe worth a shot.

How much does it cost to change the oil? I would change it again. I change my oil every 1,000 miles, but I do have access to a shop so it's easier for me than most. When someone has neglected a car by not changing the oil, it takes more than just one oil and filter change to get out all of the dirty oil. I have seen engines that the customer did not change the oil on for 40-50,000 miles, and it was not pretty. The valvetrain becomes completely covered with hard carbon sludge build-up that cannot be removed without disassembling the motor and hot tanking the block and head.

I would go to a shop (Acura here in TO has this service)... they connect a Bliestein machine on the engine and it basically runs a cleaning agent through the engine under vaccume. The stuff cleans off sludge and deposits... then a fresh oil change is done... that should do the trick. I change the oil in my car ever 3000 KM's (Mobil1)... I take my car to have this done once a year... its only 89.00.. After it gets done, the oil stays clean longer.

Another thing you could do is drain the oil and drop the pan, clean it real good and replace with new gasket obviously. Then run it and chage the filter/oil after 1-200 miles.

the belstein machine is a piece of crap
just go to any auto store and see if they have a complete engine flush that run in the engine for 10 min after you change the oil and filter, then flush oil through the motor and put on the new filter/ oil
of you can take it to any quick lube place at itll be about $50+ the oil change
dont get the **** they add into the oil and run, drain it all out
or if you cant find a flush and want to do it yourself try a 50/50 mix of 520 and atf

then when you put the new oil in for the first time put in about half a quart of atf
