Dc5 Rsx rear lower shock bolt question
Ok so we were putting Eibach springs on it, finished the front and that was cake. So we continued to the rear and got them removed and got them lined up to go back in but whatever we tried we couldnt get the bolt lined up to tighten.. We used a jack to raise the shock into place but it just wouldnt grab and tighten. We've layed in down pouring rain for 2 hours trying to get these things on and nothing.
Can someone please post some helpful information on getting these hooked up
Thanks
Unbolt the upper control arm and you should be able to get the bolt aligned. I usually just leave the upper control arm in and with a jack and a 1/2" 3" long extension i jack up the bottom of the strut (just the strut) until the bolt lines up. Becareful though, the 1/2" extension tends to slip. Good luck..late
I dont know if an Ep3 is setup the same way as a Dc5. But I am sure there are some simularities. When I did the rear, to align the hole I used a big *** screwdriver. I placed the screwdriver between the control arm and the underbody, pushed downward until the holes lined up. If that doesnt work, the floorjack method works too. Either way it is a bitch!!
I've done the suspension on the DC5, EP3, and the EM2's ...never had any trouble other than getting the top mount lined up right in relation to the shocks eye mount. ...but that was the first time...learned after that to mark them.
