On the dizzy you might have switched out the plugs, there are 2 white wires in that 5 wire set, perhaps you switched those two wires, switch them and see if that works.

The most common problem I've seen for no spark is the two white distributor wires. Switch those first, and double check all your wiring. It can't hurt to go over everything twice.

Mix up what wires? There are two white wires, one is fat and by it's self. One white wire has a blue stripe on it, and the other white is skinny, and paired up with an orange. Does the fat white wire go with the orange for crank angle sensor? Or is it the skinny white wire right next to the orange wire in the middle if the clip?

You said you have a new dizzy, but I'll mention this anyway...

One common problem with the d-series dizzy (I don't know but B-series might be the same) is the plugs on the ignitor get loose, pull the covers off of the dizzy and double check all of the conections in there. they should be tight, you should not be able to wiggle any of them around.

Hey I want to change my 90 civic to mpfi. I know that I will more than likely need a new ecu, wiring harness, and intake manifold what other items should I need? Could any one of you that have done this conversion give me instructions on how to do this and things to whach out for. The motor is a 1.5liter 16valve sohc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When i did my swap and i tried to rewire the distributor while it was in the car it would not start no matter what i did. After i got fed up i took it out and double checked everything. i didnt change anything and put it in and my car started.

After it was running just to make sure i did it right i switched the two white wires and i got a code (dont remember what one but it didnt start) i switched them back and it didnt start but cranked with no codes. i repeated the bottom of paragraph one and it started.

Bottom line. take your dist out put it back in and try it again.

A guy's i tryed to bust the mpfi swap on my dx engine and failed...

I bought the intake manifold with every thing on it, 90 crx si engine bay wiring harness and the si 1.6 dizzy.

O.k

This is where the fun starts. I first started by undoing the stock dx harness and when that was finsh i moved on to the stock dx manifold.Every thing was going fine until i started to put the crx si (90) harness into the engine bay. I went to plug in the harness plug (By the injector resister box, big round one) into the fire wall harness that goes into the car. And the plug's did not match up, the si has 8 prongs in the plug and the the dx has 12 prongs in the plug.

So i guess the si wiring harness does not plug right up.

This is where i'm stuck.Should i try to modify the si harness plug to work or should i just use the dx one and add the four wires?????

Do i need the si dizzy?

What should i do to use the si harness?

Am i having this problem because im using a crx si harness?

o yea i have a 1991 dx civic

NEED HELP AND OPTIONS

tHANX..

Hey thanks for all the emals that I got about the mpfi switch. Reading all of these posts and finding that alot of you have had problems getting that car to start after the switch is done kind of makes me wonder if I should really atempt it. I am new to honda but could tell you a shitloads about GMs. What the heck is an ignighter and what the heck is a dizzy. Once the conversion was done and all the bugs worked out how does the car run? Where can you tell the biggest difference? On base model civic 1.5 16valve ya'll keep talking about slicincing in two more injectors, where about do you splice into and wouldn't you need to replace three injectors? The reason I ask this don't tbi civics have one injector for idle and the other injector takes over when the car starts to accelerate? Like I said I am new to honda performance so please excuse my stpidity and ignorance. Hey is 18.90's slow for a completely stock civic 1/4 mile????

thanks agin rabbid

That's where I was 2 years ago.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by rabbid &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> What the heck is an ignighter and what the heck is a dizzy. </TD></TR></TABLE>

Dizzy = short for distributor
Ignitor = part inside of distributor... Not sure exactly what it does, but power goes through it before going to the coil.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by rabbid &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> Once the conversion was done and all the bugs worked out how does the car run? </TD></TR></TABLE>

Night and day difference... like a whole different car!

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by rabbid &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">On base model civic 1.5 16valve ya'll keep talking about slicincing in two more injectors, where about do you splice into and wouldn't you need to replace three injectors?</TD></TR></TABLE>

You're not just splicing 2 more injectors in, you're completely changing the fuel delivery system. In Chevy terms, changing from TBI to TPI. You're just utilizing the wires that used to run the 2 old injectors, and adding the wires for the other 2.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by rabbid &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Like I said I am new to honda performance so please excuse my stpidity and ignorance. </TD></TR></TABLE>

We've all been there before.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by rabbid &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Hey is 18.90's slow for a completely stock civic 1/4 mile???? </TD></TR></TABLE>

That's accually a pretty good time for a DPFI model, with an MPFI swap and a few simple bolt-ons, you can probably expect mid 17's, Maybee better with good driving.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by rabbid &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> thanks agin rabbid

You're welcome

thanks guys...my car is running now but it's throwing a code 9 on the ecu...i dont know how to correct this problem since all my wiring is right...its DRIVING ME NUTS!! btw, on my 1990 CRX DX with 125K miles on it, i ran 16.7 stock....so i think my car is doing pretty good right now...after the MPFI swap, im hoping for around 16.2 or lower....feels really really strong

try switching c1 c2 wires and reset your ecu, that should get rid of the code 9. i'm thinking i'll get into the high 15's with my mpfi swap, if not i'll get my 12 sec vw rabbit running so i can remember what fast is.
