What is the difference between three-piece and one-piece wheels in terms of performance?
I am currently thinking about getting a set of Arelli Vetta rims that are 17x7.5
On the Arelli site, it says the Vetta is a 3-piece rim. What is the difference between a three piece and one piece rim in terms of performance? Will a 3-piece wheel hurt performance as compared to a one-piece wheel?
I know that going to a smaller rim would help even more, but I would appreciate an answer.

your two-three piece wheels are actualy generally heavier, look better(more flashy)...and are more expensive to make. there really is no performance advantage.
your cast wheel is cheaper in quality/materials...and usually heavier too. deff no performance advantage here.
your forged wheel is much stronger/lighter, and gives the highest level of performace benefits of the three types.

Three piece wheels are much more versatile. Lot's of times there are a lot more options as far as offset and like variables when deciding on a wheel. Also, if you break/dent/ruin one part of the rim, often you can just take that part off, order a new one and be done. A lot of nice 3 piece wheels are forged and therefore very light/strong. If they didn't have any advantages, do you think Lamborghini would use them?
