Default H22 Radiator questions.....Which one is better option?

This question is mainly aimed at the guys running H22 swaps.

I've researched the topic, and after checking the parts needed list for the swap (Thanks Poison), it looks as though there are two different radiator and fan assemblies to chose from:

1) FAL import racing fan for 92-00 Civic with 1994-97 Del Sol VTEC Radiator or Integra Radiator
-or-
2) C&R Import Racing aluminum radiator with SPAL fan for DOHC motors

Which one do you guys think is the better solution? Are there others that you're using?

I'm running the C&R DOHC aluminum radiator now, and love it. Both of 'em work awesome.

But the DelSol vtec dual core radiator with FAL slim fan would be just a little cheaper and work just as well.

I hope others will post, though with different combos.

I'm in freakin hot TX.

I have a stock 153,000 mile CX radiator with a Hayden slim fan from Pep Boys.

It works great. Doesn't even come close to overheating even in the 100 degree weather with a/c on.

I am running the C&R with the Spal front mount push fan. I love it and keeps my car way cooler than when I had the Del Sol dual core. Also, try looking into the Spal fan over the Fal fan. It pushes more CFM's than the fal, and also costs less.

Im running a GSR radiator with a Hayden slim fan, the fan bairly comes on, that radiator keeps the engine nice and cool. I bought the radiator from http://www.radiators.com for a little under $200 shipped to my door the next day. The fan I picked up at pep boys for about $75. Very good $275 investment imo.

Ha ha....and I'm even closer to the equator than you

All I got is my dx radiator with a bmw E36 fan (adapted to my car) so that it wont over heat

No problems yet.......Even with the A/c on

Edit: I also have a mercedes fan on my A/c. So please god just let the Germans make just one thing work right

I too use the stock radiator, in this the needle never goes any higher even with the A/C on, I do use a slimfan from advanced auto though.

sorry for the blurryness

I'm running the factory DX radiator for now, but I'm upgrading to the Del Sol VTEC one in a couple weeks. And I'm using an Air Conditiong fan I found in my garage. It works though...

Will I be ok running my stock 127,000 dx radiator with a SPAL fan? If so, without sounding too noob, what is a spal fan? Where can i get one? How much are they?

Spal is just a brand.

Any slim fan should work.

You should be alright, but if you live in warm temps and beat the hell out of your motor, than I'd go with the Del Sol VTEC and a FAL fan. You can get them anywhere, Summit.com , local shop. im not sure how much spal fans are, maybe around $80?..

I am running a del sol dual core radiator. It does the job. I have never had any overheating issues at all. The fan comes on alot though.

I also used the stock cx radiator for awhile and that worked too. My car never overheated with it, but the fan did come on alot more than it does with my duel core one.

I think I want to upgrade to a BIG C&R radiator sometime in the future. I want something that will keep my motor alot cooler.

Wow!!!

Thanks for all the setups guys!! This is what I love about these boards, nearly everyone is so willing to spread the info. I haven't had to make alot of posts, because I just do a search and nearly every question has been answered with some REAL info. Thanks alot!!

I guess until I can afford the whole setup, I might try to stick with my stock SOHC VTEC radiator and upgrade the fan. I love in North Carolina, so if the guys in Texas can run a stock radiator, then I guess I should too.

Its still worth it down the road, If you get a quick $100, go for it. The motor will feel much better. i plan on using stock half radiator until I finish paying off my swap. Than I'll go for the full del sol.

I just use a stock Civic radiator with the stock civ radiator fan (trimmed to fit, of course, thanks Kenlude!) and I never go above just below half-- right on the money. I have a coolant temp gauge from Autometer that's going in for the summer to monitor the temps a bit closer, though. Some water wetter will be added too.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I had another question.

To shepworldwide & RedlineH22a:

I see where you guys are mentioning the del sol dual core radiator for $100. where did you get it for that price? Is that the OEM radiator?

Also look for a good used automatic Civic radiator, what i'm running. I'm almost willing to bet that they have the same part# as one for a DelSol.
