Car and Driver RSX review - 0-60 in 6.1, qtr in 14.8
You're from hoover? Cool, I used to live there, Now I live in Vestavia, well my house is in vestavia, I live in some apartments in Homewood right now. It is nice to see others form alabama on these boards. anyway...
6.1 seconds...thats pretty quick. was that in their magazine or on their website?

In the new issue of Car and Driver,(August). It looks like the new integra...um...the RSX, i mean, is the best ever performance wise. There is just that issue of styling though...too much BMW influence. But I guess that is what Honda(Acura) is striving for in their line up though...sophisticated performance. It's not the same old integra, but it's not ugly at least.

Those #s make me think:
How many NA four cylinder cars, available in the US (not including the type R) can pull 14's bone stock?

i think 6.1 is a bunch of bs if you ask me. Probably an error with measuring tools. If they got 7.0 on their first run then something has got to be wrong. Even if it was the drivers fault.
I think they explained how they came up with 7 before. This issue stated that in their initial review they were being conservative and mainly estimating the times based on some number crunching with the 100 extra pounds and 14 lbs more of torque. They admit they were way off.

yeah i have to agree with that. i was surprised to see the ITR beat it. It's funny how subaru changed their advertisements in magazines. Before they were like "Give us 6.4 seconds to prove it" now they're like "Give us 5.9 seconds to prove it (car and driver)" or something hehe.
COOL, i want one now. Since it it's better than my car in every single way objectively. I'll just buy one, and then the next car i see thats better than that, i'll buy that. Or at least make mommy and daddy buy that. I mean buying a fast car automatically brings respect and makes people drool at my feet. Who needs to know anything about a car, when you can just buy performance out of the box, esp since i just drive on the street, and use the car as a status symbol -- Thoughts going through a few of my friend's heads, not just about the RSX but about everything basically. Come to think of it, it's like my whole town.
Now for my opinion, 6.1 is impressive but not really unexpected IMO it's only a couple hundred lbs heavier, has more tq, and more hp, and short gearing.....my thoughts were close, i expected 6.4 0-60 and 1/4 in 15 flat. I can already hear all the excuses now " well your GS-R is faster cause you modified it , my rsx-s is stock" Basically the same "because" arguments will be flying around. Accept it for what it is, a better performing car thats what i think...better car in general? depends, it's all about what your looking for i guess.
I like the commercials, heheh vrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrm

The RSX is a different kind of car. It's basically a low cost CL Type S. Both are good in straight line, with the RSX perhaps handling better. However, the RSX is less pure as the old GSR - just as C&D commented. It's a quieter, more comfortable and smoother ride, etc... It's evident from the "mediocre" tires Acura put on the RSX, that it's main point is to be a cheaper alternative to the (luxurious sport) CL Type S and not a hands down performer. I would have preferred Acura to stay on the path they were with the Integra, but I guess luxury and comfort wins this time. I see the RSX somewhere in between a Honda Prelude and the CL Type S. I am glad it is making such healthy power - all you need are some springs, shocks, a rear sway bar and an LSD and you would have a truly awesome and complete package. I would definitely take one of those!
A it stands right now, there's just so much that a 2800+ lbs, moderate suspension, FWD car with an open differential can do at the track/autox.
Let's just hope we will get the Type R sometime in the near future.

If acura is trying to be l;ike BMW< they need to get with the fawking program and start offering ALL of the type S cars with manual transmissions.

I would say though that I didn't find the tires "mediocre", especially when compared to the GSR's stock Michelins. The 16" Michelins on the -S cornered capably, and took longer to lose their grip. I'd actually say that the -S can outcorner a GSR if both are stock (of course, the GSR can be vastly improved with an ITR swaybar, and new shocks/springs).
I like my GSR. But I think the RSX is well made and thought out, and that it's going to really sell. Time will tell whether Acura continues to look to those of us who like it hot, or switch over to the caviar crowd.
Yo Hracer , me and your dad went to the Acura dealer today and we drove the Type S and your dad was drulling after the test and decided to trade the Type R for one, you better go home quickly and take the keys from him before he trades it on Monday, so I think you need to think twice about that car.
Trust me it is better than the Type R and I have already put a deposit on a black one coming next month, they only had a blue in stock.
So guys trust me it is a great car !!!!!!!!

Coming from someone who drives the RSX type-s daily. It is much faster than the GSR. And even beet a ITR on the highway. Call it BS if you want I dont care. The gears are the same as the GSR so 6 gear pulls really hard, and 2nd will put you in your seat.

Man, I saw the RSX at the dealership yesterday and I was pissed. It looks a lot better in person and its beautiful in black.
You say it needs a spoiler? Man,...theres a dealer option for a spoiler that looks just as good as the Integra spoiler does on the Integra. This is what made me mad...
I thought i was just gonna see it and be like "heh, i guess its okay but i like my GSR better......." Well I like the RSX better.

One minute they can drive a car and the next they cant. Last time they drove an ITR it ran 15.2
