Default Choosing an alarm installer.

Now I've been poking around for a few months looking for suggestions on car alarms, and the usual answer in summation tends to be it all comes down to the installation. My question is how would someone go about finding the best place for installation on a high quality alarm system. I will be purchasing a highly targeted vehicle regarding theft and I have some concerns on just dropping this car off to a shop. I will have a hard time trusting them to not compromise my ownership by doing things like maybe copying a key, taking down my VIN #, and any other shady stuff.

Some things I'd plan to do are as follows:

-Pay cash!!!
-Leave absolutely no contact information
-Cover all VIN#'s the best way I can
-Only go to a place that will do an install in a day AND allow me to be present throughout the whole installation (probably a pipedream, eh?)

If anybody has any other suggestions, it would be grealy appreciated. My main concern is to stay away from the local rice shops where suspiscous eyes will be lurking at my cars inner workings.

Thanks!!

Um, You may want to leave a bit of info, you know, for warrenty purposes.

Ask around, find out who works on all the $$$ cars in your area, talk to some of their customers, see if they are happy.

Good luck finding a shop like you describe that will let you watch. Most (all?) shops with insurance don't let customers in the bay as per their policy.

personally, if you came to me with this list of conditions:

"-Pay cash!!!
-Leave absolutely no contact information
-Cover all VIN#'s the best way I can
-Only go to a place that will do an install in a day AND allow me to be present throughout the whole installation (probably a pipedream, eh?)"

I would refuse your business.
Guys like you (no offence here, im just generalizing now, this is to illustrate a point) tend to be the people that come back and complain about every little thing, regardless of if its install related or not. show a little trust to your choosen installer, and it will repay you ten-fold.

I'm not the type of person to nit-pick over everything. Just a future ITR owner. That might explain the sudden paranoia.

Your suggestion for asking what some of the high-end vehicle owners are using is a great suggestion by the way. Thanks!!

If you want, you can come down and visit my installer. He did a real nice job. stealth wiring and alarm location. did everthing I asked him. plus you wouldn't be local. I know what your saying . The same people your paying to protect you investment could be the ones who hurt you.

If you are near Pittsburgh come see me, I will take care of you ... I have no need for a ITR my younger brother has one, LOL ... I have been installing professionally for 7 years and am a First Class MECP certified installer, I also gratuated from Mobile Dynamics in AZ with 97% average, 5th highest to ever go through the school ... if not usually the best places, if you are worried about vin# and **** like that are best buys and circuit city's ... as for the quality i can't tell you... that depends on the installers abilities ... check around with local customers ... good luck.
