I just installed a TV in my car... Its hooked up to my ps2 and my headunit. I have a seperateswitch connected to the TV to be able to turn it off and on. when I turn the TV on I get engine noise! I tried to move the ground. but it got worse! lol .. any ideas? The engine noise only occurs when I turn the TV on. So I know it's not the ps2 and not the headunit making the noise.. thanks for all your help!

find a better ground..or get a noise suppressor...or noise filter...but its most likely the ground..i have 3 monitors in mines and it makes noise too...

 

The way I have my TV grounded is like this. I used the head unit and TV ground spliced together and going to the same ground spot on the chassis, I am pretty confident that will eleminate your unwanted noise. Oh here is my install.

Try and run a ground outside the car out the window to the battery just to do a quick test. If you don't get any noise, pull it thru the firewall and do it neatly - problem solved. If a battery direct ground doesn't work (and that's a pretty extreme ground but definetly the best) I would say like a previous post did, to ground the TV and head unit at the same location.

 

lude with a tv... yea dude get a better ground... maybe thicker guage wire or wire that has more insulation around it too.. try to keep it away from other wires if possible i found that works too..

 

yea its probably a speaker wire that is touching ground causing the the whind up sound
