Default Anti Seize Not Good Enough For This Customer

On a lighter note.

I recommend using anti seize when slipping the sections of my headers together. This customer didn't like that idea so he had the slip joints coated in a dry film lubricant. You just can't please everyone

Haha, looks good, Dave. I'll still be glad to take it off your hands, film lubricant and all .

Lets get the record straight pal . I still use anti seize when i slip them together to help. But when you work at a coatings facility and can do everything yourself you tend to take advantage of it.lol My intake manifold was done last week, pistons will be done tommorow with dry film on the skirts and thermal on the tops. I wasw going to do my combustion chambers but with mine being welded up i was afraid to put it through the cure cyle needed on the thermal barrier.
Heres some more pics.

Pulling a two piece slip fit header apart after it has been run for a while is a real bitch, I know this the hard way...and I also know how much of a pain it is to but it back together after it has been coated...so that was a pretty good idea.

I feel you on that one..... I had to do it with my hytech header recently... WHAT A PAIN!

Anyway, I thought I came up with the anti-sieze idea!

WD40 and rubber hammer definitely make it easier to remover (as much as possible) - but it sucks being under the car trying to use them!

I work for a coating facility that deals with alot of f18 superhornet fighter parts in the north east. I'm a ion vapor deposition tech , but my boss is our lead sprayer(also my best friend), so he does all the spray stuff, I do the electroplating(Ivd vacume coating)

Yes it is, that's why I have to bump (expand) all the slips joints after the headers come back from the coaters.

Tbone - Maybe you can do some engine coating stuff for me, buddy.

When is there a need to break the header down and put it back together?

If you go the extra step and try to adjust the lengths of the primaries or secondaries. And of course when carrying it onto an airplane through security.
