on freeway, 5th gear, going to neutral without pressing on clutch?!?
i was on the freeway in 5th gear and then i went into Neutral on accident without pressing the clutch... is something wrong? or is this normal.
Did it pop out by itself or did you shift it? If it popped out by itself then I'd think of bad synchros, bent shift linkage, bent shift fork, ???
If you shifted it out, then no big deal. All you did is give it just enough gas so the engine's EXACTLY just keeping up. When there's no pressure on the gearset, then it slips right out of gear.

i pulled it into neutral on accident. i hand was on the **** and i was thinking about changing lanes then i noticed my hand pull it into neutral and engine rev without pressing the clutch. then i just cluched and put it back into gear and it was fine.

its normal....all gears can be moved into neutral without pressing the clutch when you are decelerating. 5th is the easiest one.

is it bad doing this while driving around,
ex: shifting gears without using the clutch, but no grinding sound. is this bad?

If you're good enough, you can shift any car without using the clutch. I've done it myself several times. Mess up, and it could be your tranny though

What you really shouldn't be doing is resting you hand on the shift lever. Unless you enjoy replacing shift forks...

Shift forks are the little thingys is the transmission that attach to hubs which slide up and down the main and countershafts to engage different gears.
